In real-time I didn’t think either team benefited much, so that seems to be confirmed. I’m surprised with the consistency score as the zone felt inconsistent when watching.
Enjoy tonight’s game. We are in the World Series. We might not be back for another 15 years, that’s how baseball works. Win today and it’s tied up.
Last night actually felt a lot more like Game 4 against Boston only without the offensive explosion in the 9th. Tonight is a must win. Not just because it would even the series, but because it would put a ton of pressure on Snitker to run Fried out there in Game 5 on 3 days rest in order to avoid a 3-2 deficit heading to MMP. I'm starting to worry about our offense though. The Astros have had only 3 bad offensive games in the postseason. Two of them have come against the Braves. On the flipside though, outside of Framber's disastrous Game 1 start, Atlanta has scored a total of 5 runs since he left the mound. So if Greinke can duplicate what Garcia did yesterday, we have a good shot tonight.
It’s simple - If Correa wants to get paid, he better start hitting. His nothing burgers have cost us two games. If Correa’s baseball IQ ever matches his body, he could be the Lebron James of baseball. Sadly, his lack of situational awareness at the plate leaves a lot to be desired. We all get excited when he gets the big homer because it’s awesome, but the problem is he tries to do that all the time, when sometimes just getting on base is more important. We need more Barry Bonds and less Albert Belle out of Correa. You can add Altuve to this as well.
Altuve seems lost at the plate. Seems like all he can do is hope to pull it over the fence in left like late career Biggio. That is hurting the offense. Correa is a streaky hitter who is also slumping at the wrong time. Bregman is also lost right now. I just don’t see us winning this series if these guys don’t pick it up. And Im not talking about scoring 13 runs today and then reverting back after that. They have to do better from here out.
Bregman can get on base via walks at least still. Sometimes altuve too. I think ultimately Correa and Altuve need to be better. Bregman is too hurt I suspect. Altuves had some knee issues too in the last handful of years. @Nook
Ken Jeong said he is picking SMU because he hates the Astros, and he has evidence that Correa threw a bucket of ice on people after game 7 of the world series, lol.
It absolutely would have mattered. If Siri swipes second right away during Castro’s at bat, Castro can bunt him to third. Then, you have Altuve up in a 1-0 game needing a sac fly to tie the game and the Braves have to bring their infield in. If the throw gets away, Siri gets to third and you have three chances to get him home and tie the game.
Altuve is not seriously hurt. He just refuses to adjust his approach to the fact pitchers know he crushes fastballs and struggles to lay off junk out of the zone. They also know he loves to hunt the first pitch and are throwing him a breaking ball instead of the fastball he wants. Altuve needs to start taking a few more pitches and getting himself into hitters’ counts. That will open things up for him. If he continues to be over aggressive and show no plate discipline, good luck snapping out of this funk before next season.
I was baffled and pissed. First, why it did take a pitch to sub Siri in for Diaz? Second, he had one job, and he simply didn’t do it. I find it hard to believe in such a critical situation that Baker and Espada didn’t clearly communicate to Siri that he needed to swipe that bag early in Castro’s at bat.
Th This is a bad take. Correa has extremely high baseball iq. he talks about the adjustments he makes in game all the time.
Lots of missed opportunities to put pressure on D’Arnaud. Was yelling for them to steal in the first.
Nope. They asked about going with Castro vs Matzek, but nothing about why Siri waited to steal until there were two outs. All Dusty said was Siri did his job. If Baker really didn’t tell Siri he needed to try and swipe second right away during Castro’s bat, that’s a horrible tactical blunder.
I meant that they had better chances to score and couldn’t get the ball out of the infield in terms of it not mattering. It certainly seemed like he should have run earlier though and it’s the one decision in the game that seemed obviously wrong to me.
