    Lot of words, zero concrete examples, zero empirical evidence, zero statemetn of what a reasonable expectation is or why we're sub replacement level coaching.

    Remember they didn’t have Dlo and Wiggins at the same time. And I disagree with your assessment of Draymond, see my explanation of what I think of him (short answer: GREAT glue guy, tremendous defender, but NOT going to win you games and carry a team of below average players).

    I’d say kPJ or green should be able to be as good as Wiggins or Dlo were in 2019. The other guys. Meh. Admittedly I haven’t watched much of other teams the last 2 seasons, but none of them stand out as Impact players on other teams today — pachall dominated us but is that because he’s significantly better or we just suck and are too weak/soft to box him out?

    peak at that 2019 roster, there are a bunch of guys who aren’t nba players. Overall I think our roster is better. Draymond also only played 43 games that season.

    You're 11 pages into your thread and I haven't seen a single piece of evidence yet on your key argument - that the Rockets should reasonably expect to do better under a different regime - which regime? How much better? How will they do this (Wait, don't tell me, "Fundamentals" ) ....other than you just repeating it over and over again.

    It's your thread! You make the case that these things are true.

    Great response!!!! /sarcasm.... Not my fault you can't read words? Here, maybe this is better:
    4638523-1515664325-8175321=*-q352891==027461283=29(*%5253824368034258

    I've said it over and over again.

    Your response consistently...

    * Way to type words!
    * Fundamentals are stupid
    * I don't watch that much
    * He shows up on time so is a good coach!
    * Coaching doesn't matter

    And if you have it, proof that the players weren't coached to execute it properly
    they don't have this because they just watch the games on tv like us

    He is though. Like there are tons of metrics out there that will tell you how valuable he is. DLo is still better than anyone on our roster though.

    I think DLo had made one all star before he came to GS right. Who knows? We were the worst team in the league last year.

    Right, but 43 games of Draymond is pretty much better than anything we are going to get this year. Maybe our roster is "better" or maybe its not. The point is we arent that different from that team and they only won 15 games. We are gonna have to accept it.

    If he was that good they’d have won more games. He’s an impactful player. But without offensive stars around him he’s pretty worthless, evident by their record when it’s just him and no Steph, Klay or Durant. And I’m not saying he should be able to carry them to the playoffs, but one star player should be able to win you 41 games, imo.

    I'm not repeating the stuff that I've said and everyone else has said. Ok, well, I will, lol. They have no offensive system, no defensive system, poor fundamentals, bad rebounding, turn the ball over too much, few plays (purposefully), are confused on the plays they do have, don't make any in game adjustments, don't make any in between game adjustments...

    I don't need to make the case they're true. I know and am stating them to be true. If there was a metric on bball reference that was "coaching capabilities" that was remotely correct, we wouldn't need to be discussing it.

    You can keep disagreeing that they're true by continuing to claim that coaching doesn't matter, teaching fundamentals is useless and its a big positive that the coaching staff shows up on time (got me on that one!).

    I'll bite on the fundamental topic. But don't bite my head off (hue hue). And this isn't to pick on one particular player, as every player has weaknesses, but it's the first that pops into my head.

    KPJ's dribbling and tightening his handle. Especially under ball pressure. His last game was low TO; but the other games wasn't that great.

    Not asking for Kyrie-esque handles or juke moves. Dribbling and taking care of the ball while the other team swipes at you. Fundamental basketball. I don't really care how he does it, be the low Harden dribble, or puts his butt to the defenders. Dribbling the ball when bring it up the court, protect it when defender swipes, not pick up his dribble too early in drives. Stuff like that.

    I don't mind losing. The team needs more talent and another top 5 pick would be great.

    I just want to see the young guys improve. its too early to tell.

    If Silas and staff develop these kids year after year, it doesn't matter how bad the Xs and Os are... yet. let Silas develop them until his contract is over, then move on to someone who can help win games.

    I think our target should be playoffs by 2024. if the rookies continue to improve, keep Silas until then. get another top 5 pick in 2022, probably another lotto pick in 2023. then spend your cap space that year on vets to help round out the team. possibly a new coach that summer too. then push towards the playoffs. before the summer of 2023, I'm only focused on green, sengun, garuba, scoot, KJ, and Christopher's improvement.

    DLo was there and he was all star level. DLo and Draymond isnt a 15 win roster or maybe they are? The point being is, we arent significantly different from them talent wise. We just arent. All teams who are young and bad go through this. Steph Curry' s first year in the league had 26 games won. Kevin Durant's first year in the league, 20 games won. Its a process man.

    You guys are all missing the point.

    I never said the results would be different from a wins and losses standpoint. We’d still be a bottom 3 team in the league — let me make that clear. I’m merely pointing out, that at minimum, under Snyder we would at least have a real system and culture in place. The on-court product would be improved and players wouldn’t look confused.

    I understand what you are saying man, but things like "culture" and "system" without providing any meaningful measurements of what is and what isnt being done on the court is well.....there is nothing there to analyze. Like...we are bad. We have players who are bad. There are good coaches who have bad rosters and lose a lot of games. We just have to wait and see. Coaching is something that isnt easily measurable.

    I don’t have the resources nor the time to edit and cut film to visually show you how embarrassing the offense is.

    These threads aren’t created for the hell of it. There’s a reason Silas is being lit up around here.

    Why is Sengun not starting or at least getting starter minutes? Why are we not running more high-post action through Sengun to maximize his passing skills?

    Why are we not making the game easier for Jalen Green? Where are the lob plays to take advantage of his athleticism? Where are the back door cuts and pin downs to get Green going downhill, which is what he’s best at? Green has showed promising off-ball capabilities — why aren’t we running him off screens for open 3s?

    Why are we not spamming the hell out of KPJ/Wood and Green/Wood PnRs? That is our best play and chance to score in a given possession.

    In a development year, why are vets like House and DJ ahead of KJ and Christopher in the rotation — especially when they have played horrendously? Where are the Garuba minutes?

    Why have players who were here last year regressed? Tate, House, DJ, Wood, etc., all look either worse, frustrated, or confused on the court.

    Lastly, why do SO many actions and plays break down and lead to us taking a contested ISO 3?

    I know you watch the games. These aren’t “oh, they’re teenagers. What do you expect” problems. This is all on coaching. And despite what others think, these problems have a direct correlation with player development, which is my biggest concern.

    So basically you are charging that the Rockets are not even attempting to do anythign on offense, every possession is just a purely random output? That Silas is literally sitting in his office playing minewsweeper during training camp/practice?

    That's laughable. You know and I know that the ROckets coaching staff is largely running the same concepts that most NBA teams operate, to the extent they runt hem at all , and the output of playtypes (if you bothered to look, which you admittedly haven't) is more or less in line with the rest of the NBA (surprise, the Rockets run lots of P&R, like most teams, surprise, they don't run as many ISO's as the Nets).

    If there's any anomalies there - stats.nba.com, please tell me. Since you have a lot invested in this I would think you would.

    As for defensive tendencies i thought they were pretty much still switching everythign like they did last year, maybe not, I don't know. Doesn't really seem to me that switching or not switchign is going to solve their problems which stem mostly from turnovers and bad shooting

    The rest of your gripes are about exection - to which I say, we have one of the worst groups of executioners in the league, hence the lottery picks.

    I know I know. My biggest concern right now isn’t wins. It’s the total lack of any development in the system. Not through 4 games but from last year to this year. Seems like guys have regressed. I know it’s early and I think we need at least 10 games to judge but I’m seeing NOTHING out there that I like from a player standpoint. Just guys running around lost.

    How do you know we arent running any of these actions and they arent being blown up? You arent accounting for what the defense are doing. Show the film and if you dont have time than we dont know. You are just blindly asking for a bunch of plays.

    Idk maybe they are seeing something with Sengum that we dont know? Maybe they will start Sengum(we are like 4 games in). Maybe we are starting Theis because we are tanking? Maybe we are trying to raise his trade value.

    Regressed? My guy they were BAD LAST YEAR TOO.

    Because we have young and bad players on our roster. Thats why plays get blown up and dudes take bad shots.

    That literally is whats happening? Do I have to go back and show you how bad teams are initially before they got better. A team with Steph Curry his rookie year won 26 games. A team with Kevin Durant his Rookie year won 20 games. A team with Giannis won 15 games their first year. I dont know what you are expecting.

    Kenny Atkinson(one of the best developmental coaches) won like 20 something games his first year in the league as head coach.

    If its not about wins and losses and its about how bad we look than I would just say give it time. ALOT of time.

    Since a buy out isn’t an option, the Rockets should try to persuade John Wall to play 20-25 minutes until another team will take him off their hands. Let him focus on being the veteran distributor on the floor to help all the young players they have find their way. Porter Jr is not a point guard, and you have a bunch of rookies or second year players starting other than Theis. If you can’t convince Wall to play, run Augustin with the young players as a veteran mentor for 20 minutes per game.

    A large part of the reason teams like Sacramento and Phoenix spent so long in the lottery is you can’t just run a team of 19-20 year olds on the court in the NBA without any veteran leadership/mentors unless you luck into a special player like Luka Doncic.

    Based on what? Seems far fetched to suggest Snyder would have "a real system and culture in place" barely over 1 season into his first head coaching experience.
