Bickerstaff 5 years ago looks like Pat Riley compared to Silas now. Experienced Bickerstaff looks like Red Auerbach compared to SIlas lol We just gotta wait 5 years for Silas to become a good coach lol cant wait lol
If only he had PLAYERS....this is the SAME system that was the most efficient offense in NBA history w/ the Mavs. We don't have a superstar or all stars at that.... so we're going to suck....for a while. Get used to losing; the team is young. And please....enough with the same old threads (masked with different titles)
One decent season as an assistant coach (where Carlisle ran the team) after several if not all notably lackluster/horrible seasons as assistant coach does not make you head coaching material. Honestly, Silas may be the worst coach in NBA history. The numbers after 88 games have him right at the top of the list. 18-70 is his record and it continues to get worse. He brings absolutely nothing to the table to end this free fall other than that he’s a very nice guy. If the team were playing hard and smart I could forgive one of the worst records in NBA history, but they are not and any coach who pushes Theis as a starter and main three point shooter is not going to win or even compete in this league. Mr. Silas fanboy….things will not be getting better and the blowouts will continue until ownership makes a move for an experienced head coach.
Agreed Silas was the coach last season but had Wall/ Harden (start of the season) running the show. Rockets 20/21 more plays more vets Rockets 21/22 less plays less vets (no Harden, Tucker, Sterling Brown, Olynyk, Wall) If that's not a sign that Silas is coaching down to the level of his players....then I don't know?
Take the blinders off….there aren’t many great 18-70 coaches. I can coach a team with Harden and Wall to the 3-5 record he had at the beginning of the season….what we need is someone with head coaching experience to teach these kids the right way to play. Theis and others are in a totally free undisciplined system that focuses them on free shooting threes at almost all times. Only guy who should have that earned freedom is EG. This guy sucks big time as a head coach and needs to be shown the exit instead of having team-made documentaries after closing out last season losing 61 of his last 70 games and being a couple losses away from the all time longest losing streak in NBA history.
I actually agree i dont think hes a very good Xs and Os coach but i think hes the perfect coach for the first few years of these kids careers.Hes a very good players coach and right now these young guys are growing.
We don't have 5 years. I see 1 trait with coaches that become good or are good that Silas does not have. Its the whiny demanding persistence of wanting to win while holding players accountable. Silas is closer to Mchale, smile smile guys play chaotic But for this season I'm ok with tanking again if Stone can get us 4 first round picks again. Next year we start out fresh.
Stone Tank Dictator Silas Super Tank General Wall Tank Commander Rocket Fans are the poor third class citizens wanting a new government
I always saw this as a Bo Porter situation. A place holder who will do what you say and just babysit the young guys until the team is ready start winning any amount of games. The. You hire a real coach
stone took the decision out of his hands a bit with the whole sitting wall thing wall isnt great, but hes a vet that was good enough at one point to get offered 40+ mil a year. He likely would have looked better this year as he is physically farther remove from major surgery. however... weve had a set roster since camp and we dont really look like we are getting better each game . We can see that the focus is on seeing whether or not KPJ is a main guy going forward ... this is our option year for him and we are throwing the load at his to see what he can generate ? Looks like a statistical experiment . Feel a bit bad for silas . Hes not doing enough . the circumstances are hard ... but hes not doing enough . I dont see defense and hunger and getting out into transition like i wanna see from a young team. We seem content to let Garuba and JC sit for a while and then head to the G-league . Looking like a 2-3 year rebuild. Silas will be gone by midway through next season unless we turn it around here this year and start looking more competitive. Yall wanting another top 5 pick will be happy. But ... lets just see if we can turn off the "suck" just like that. I feel us becoming sacramento/minnesota with every loss. how many years in a row will we kick the can down the road ?
If it s only players that win then we did we look like a much better team under MDA. What does ATL look like a much better team under Nate Mcmillian. They are the same players.
He should try to coach, IMO. Even Milk Hair had some sets and a defensive plan of action. I know the clapping was silly but it’s better than the blank smile and tears afterwards. The campfire campaign of friendship just to much. Some emotion other than positive complacency should be his first step, IMO. The 5 out postionless offense doesn’t work with this group.
Its not only on the players.....but ask yourself this, why are superstars teaming up with other Superstars? Shouldnt the system be enough? ____________________________________________________ If players skill levels were a number between 1-10 Harden, Durant, Steph Curry would be 10's Porter/Green would be level 1.....it's hard to win when the drivers of the car are level one and those they are going up against are 5 and higher. _______________________________________ You can bring in 10 different coaches this season..... same result. If these guys can't handle the most basics of PnR. How the Heck are they going to handle the more difficult Triangle or Princeton offense? Their cup runith over regardless of who the coach is....bigger cup means experiencing it first hand. Anthony Edwards took half a season before he started looking fair last season. Do we blame the coach? Players all of a sudden have to be instant stars from day one? Tell that to Fultz or Kawme Brown who never developed. At least Fultz to this point. Or countless others who create the NBA rookies take 3 to 4 years to develop mantra. Porter and Green are not 3 to 4 years in yet.
It wouldnt be the same result. The only way SIlas has a case is if you pretend that coaching doesnt matter. Ofcourse when your roster is overpowered with superstars in most cases coaching doesnt matter but WE dont have that luxury. You're talking about results as in win and losses when most everyone else is talking about how the younsters are being untilized if at all so they can develop. The Pacers dont have a better record than the Rockets but Duarte is thriving in their system and being set up for success early. You dont have to be a genius to understand what Silas is in charge of and what he's not doing. Unless you're Lebron James players dont decide the rotations coaching does. Players dont decide the system the coaches do. Its not Garuba's fault Silas has decided he shouldnt get many minutes despite clearing being a better defensive player. Its not Sengun fault he's only getting 18 mpg despite being our best defensive player and if he were getting 34 minutes he would be in ROY conversation. These are the things people are worried about. Silas is a rookie coach I know thats hard to admit but he is and its going to take time for him to be a good coach. The question is o we have the luxury to wait. Steve Nash is basically a rookie coach, I dont think he's is a good coach but he has two mvps so it doesnt matter as much. He can take years to become a good coach. He's missing Kyrie and they are struggling a bit. better coaches could do better even if they just had Durant. Coaching matters saying it doesnt is just silly.
