    W/L is mostly irrelevant here.

I want them to lose lol.... WITH great coaching and lots of "positive signs" in those losses.

60 loss seasons will never be filled with lots of positive signs. It doesn't work that way.

it hasn't been good enough for me. this even dates way back to last year when we were told that "this year doesn't count".

like many alluded to , every game counts... development isn't a linear path. some players can actually regress if we don't have the proper coaching/repetitions.

You just made this up lol. We have to look back as far as.... LAST YEAR... to find a horrible team that had a number of positives.

The proper question is: Is this team maximizing performance, given its talent/skill/stage of development? A 60 L team is extremely positive if you have a 70 L roster.
And admittedly it is hard to properly enumerate your talent level to know whether you're maximizing it or not. But I think majority of CF (myself including) believe that this team is underperforming, and coaching has something to do with this.

What an odd defense given that his fanbois were calling him the next Michael Jordan and they nearly had a stroke when I said that I expected him to average something like 12 points per game his rookie season claiming he'd easily average over 20 ppg.....

It's just interesting to see the goalposts move now that Green is looking terrible as I predicted he likely would.

You're not defining what you mean by "a lot of positives" or now you have changed it to "a number of positives." There will of course be some number of positives throughout a year.

By the end of the year we will have a higher number of positives than we do right now.

We have a bad team and bad teams play bad games. It's why they lose.

Tate positive, KMJ positive, Tate positive, CWood, Armoni Brooks positive... i could go into more detail but i don't think its necessary.

Nor did I say this team wont have positives this year. You did, lol... or at least "not many". Let's not argue semantics. Lots, some... I think you get my drift and I get yours.

That is reasonable. I would say though that 5 games in we aren't in a position to make an informed judgement on this. We also have to consider that (as far as I know) no teams giving regular playing time to so many 19-21 year olds have ever fared well.

I had a higher bar to cross for what constitutes a positive. If we're keeping it that low, then I am certain we will have a similar number of positives by the end of the year. So you have nothing to worry about if that's how you assess the team.

I don't know about that, I feel like people downplay the value of coaches...a lot.

Spurs haven't had the talent to win in years but are always competing for the playoffs. Also, after the big 3 Miami was also competing.

I think a great coach would still have this team look a lot better.

What do you think would change if you swapped Silas with Popovic or Spo? I think the team would look a lot more disciplined and organized. They might not win a ton of games but teams coming to play them would know they would actually have to beat them instead of letting them beat themselves.

Rockets really went out there last night and beat themselves.

Wait you think people who were saying he's the next Jordan meant right now? Also you took them seriously? Thats a logical fail on your part. Secondly you seriously need help Ive seen your posts on Jalen and you talk like he shot your dog LMAO. Its definietly not just about basketball. Its like you have some type of personal vendetta. Pretty pathetic an old man picking on a 19 year old.

I updated my post, so as i said in the update we're arguing semantics... and over only one of the points.

You didn't mention the other thing i wanted in the original post you quoted... great coaching.

Jordan scored 28 points per game his rookie season, that was part of the reason why his fanbois were claiming that Jalen would "easily" score 20+ points per game his rookie season....you know, because they were pushing him as the most NBA ready prospect in the draft and talking up what a high level of play the G league is and how he would definitely do better than all of those players who were in lowly college ball.

Seriously, it hasn't been long enough for you to try and re-write the narrative. I'm old enough to remember a few months ago.

Also, it's kind of funny pretending that you aren't one of the fanbois.....C'mon guy, I see you. It's okay to admit it.

Im not stepping in this argument over fanbois lol...

Just popping in to chime in and note that MJ was a full 2 years older than Jalen in his rookie year - almost exactly two years, Jalen with that Feb. 9th birthday and MJ with the Feb. 17th birthday.

I noted this in another thread, just worth remembering for everyone, Alpi is 8 months younger than Jalen even.

I'm ABSOLUTELY not discounting the "holy f these kids are not just young, but young af!" component here.

I'm asking you how you measure it.

I don't know enough to measure, that's why I roll my ****ing eyes at all of the "I dont' see any good coachign here" galaxy brain takes. People can't even describe what it is or even put forth a definition that makes sense in the real world, witnesseth:

I don't know or even care to know? I mean I'd have to watch a LOT more basketball to determien the answer to those questions by my eyes alone (like, half the games on league pass or more). Amount of 3 point shots, pace, etc are all relative. But to answer yoru question, I just looked it up - the Rockets play at the 4th highest pace in the league and are 7th in 3PA % - this is not surprisign to me given what the Mavericks did, though they did it at a slower pace given they had Luka in the half court a lot of the time. I don't know if they do fronting or switching or wahtever on pick and roll - I honestly did not pay attention. Suffice to say I don't think it would have made most of a difference given their facility for missing shots and turning the ball over.

As for Silas' good acts - I haven't bothered to check. The point I'm trying to make is where is your evidence that he is demonstrably worse than replacment level coach? Nate McMillian coachign a budding group of young stars in Atlanta is the best example anybody has so far. Is that really a good analogy to the current state of the Rockets? Coaching is generaly quantified as "we thought these guys sucked but then they ended up being good!" which is how coachign awareds are handed out. The Rockets were projected to be one of the worst teams, and they are...staying that way. Who do you think turns this motley crew of 19 year old misfits into a fire breathing 40 win team

We're literally a lottery team where doing 10% better actually makes you worse off in the long run. I do like how you have an intimate knowledge of the respective Lloyd Pierce/Nate McMillian schematic organizational schemes - do you really? Was there an aritcle on this? There might have been. But then again there's always an article - usually from a beat writer - praising the new guy over the old guy and the breath of fresh air, that's the way coaching works, and someday that same article will be written about how the organziational rot that Nate McMillian brought to Atlanta needs to be cleansed by new guy.

Smells like quite a bit of post-hoc bullshit to me, like Westbrook running the Thunder locker room with "military precision" lol .

For lottery teams? Probably not. Like, any professional NBA coach could probably see out a lottery season. I don't think it matters. What's your vision of a successful lottery coach getting 20 wins but putting in coach-directed improvments (as opposed to just organic improvements of players getting better)

Here's a shocking revelation. A lot of life is just random bullshit and the agency you think you or others have over it is fake and made up after the fact.

Well I'm not either, and I never was. I had reasonable expectations for Green from the start. I'm not calling him a "bust" by any means, I'm just pointing out how the Green fanbois lost their minds over my reasonable expectations for him just a few months ago and now they are making every excuse in the world for why Green isn't living up to THEIR expectations.

I saw him as a very raw player that had a high chance of being a bust along with his high upside due to how raw he was and how much development his body needed and how poor he was at the mental side of the game. So far, he's shown both the upside and the bust potential.

Right now he's the least efficient scorer on the team that isn't an end of the bench player.....and that's his best strength.

I think it's very possible that in a few years when his body matures and he learns more about the game, he could still be a very good player....but it's clear the instant messiah nonsense we had to hear from his fanbois was never going to be the case.

Some of you guys are really immature. So your entire basis for hating Jalen is a small group of Jalen fans were hoping he'd follow Jordans career to the letter and now that he hasnt after 5 games in the NBA you won some type of "i have the right to be a douche to jalen because jalen fanbois were wrong" is utterly ridiculous. Its petty. Im not trying to rewrite any narrative. I wouldnt call myself a Jalen fanboy its kind of childish I am a fan you know because he's on my favorite team. Im also a fan of KPJ and Wood though you may see me criticize them more its only because they arent rookies and I expect more from them. Jordan isnt the only player he's been compared to I myself saw him mostly compared to Zach lavine and if you look at the expectations thread I said he would average 12 - 16 ppg because he averaged 18 in the g league and your scoring usually drops a little when coming from g league then it raises later as you learn. "They were pushing him as the most NBA ready" A lot of very smart people, NBA analysts and scouts said that thats, why they did. It's why the Rockets chose him at #2. At the end of the day no one can predict the future we can only hope and thats all they were and are doing. BTW Jordan was 2 or 3 years older than Jalen when he entered the league and went to college so its ridiculous to think he would copy Jordans career I think people meant he has Jordan potential and its no ones fault you didnt understand that.

I don't "hate" Jalen Green, I merely have reasonable expectations for him and that causes his fanbois to lose their minds.

What you are claiming are your expectations are almost word for word what I was saying a few months ago that had people claiming that I "hated" him.....now him playing to my expectations apparently are evidence that I "hate" him according to those same fanbois.

    Funny how that works.

As to the whole "no one can predict" bit....I mean, A LOT of us did though. And when we did, people like you called it "hate" for not buying into the laughable hype.
