So, in Atlanta, is our OF expected to be? LF - Alvarez CF- Brantley RF - Tucker Or would Tucker slide to CF? DD
This outfield scares me when an extra base given up can kill you. That being said all three of those bats have to be in the lineup. Let's mash and get a ten run lead early.
Good game last night. Altuve found his hitting shoes, Bregman had a great, professional at bat in the first inning to drive the ball for a sac fly. Urquidy pounded the zone and pitched well, as did the bullpen. Yuli and Tucker did their thing and Siri made something happen with his legs in the four-run inning. Machete even had a huge knock in that frame. It was a fun game to attend.
The Astros don’t really have much choice but to use an outfield of Alvarez, Tucker and Brantley in Atlanta. Those are the three hottest bats on the team other than Gurriel. There’s no way any of them sit.
Yeah, I did. A friend of a friend had extra tickets, and he didn’t want to price gouge. Was able to sit in section 316, row 1 for $300. I know a great deal when I see one, so I jumped at the chance.
He wasn't even our prospect. We picked him up when no one else wanted him. He's one of those no, no, don't do it, yes!!!! players.
Would the weather effect Baker's decision regarding the outfield? Would you start off with Siri or McCormick and have Alavrez or Brantley on the bench. If we have a lead stick with it and use Brantley or Alavrez as a pinch hitter? If remains close or fall behind, quickly take out Siri or McCormick and put Alvarez/Brantley in?
I'm still marveling at the Maldonado single that got two runs home. Swanson can't get to ball that goes to left field for Rosario, Swanson puts his head down and decides to go pick daisies along the foul line behind third base. Riley gets between home and the left fielder to cut off a potential throw to home leaving 3rd base open as Yuli scores from second. Siri runs to 3B as no one was covering. Rosario throws ball to 3B with no one there. Swanson frantically tries to run to third and then holds up hands asking why wasn't anyone on third to catch the throw. The musketeer catcher has to backup throw to third that no one else could get to. Siri scores.
So after you get a couple all-star games out of him you then trade him away along with a snitch for a rising LHP prospect, a RHP prospect, and a couple other good OF prospects.
Yep, he was in the Cincinnati farm system, got waived last year, picked up by the Giants off waiver and was released. We signed him to a minor league contract at the beginning of the season.
He was also picked up and released by the Mariners before the Astros signed him. Side note, not sure if it was mentioned but first to make MLB debut in Sept and record an RBI in World Series in same year.
We're the organization that put Lance Berkman in CF as part of the everyday lineup. But yeah, Brantley was a bad CF when he could run.
