It's settled then. Snag Banchero this year and Wembanyama the next. We'll shed the vets over the course of that time to start anew. 2023 Houston Rockets jump from a lottery team to 56 wins with a wide open championship window. Wembanyama Sengun Banchero Green KPJ
D-rock has been cool. He often posts positive Instagram/tweets of Jalen Green and others here on this site. Can't say so much about other Mobley fans that just fill this site with Rocket negativity in an ego stroking effort of, "I told you so," after game 1 and 2. Way too early for that either way.
Cool man, hopefully ya'll had a good time.... You aren't a Mobley only fan, that's true... You still like Rockets and Green, I respect that....
Who are these Mobley-only-fans? I honestly haven’t seen any. That would be a such strange player to be “only fan” of. He just seems very solid and very long, but he’s got no flash. JG-only-fans I can see a lot, he’s got that "idol" aura that Jeremy Lin had. But Mobley OF? I’ve only read posts of hoops connoisseurs appreciating the young man’s potential…
I am not saying it's not but he got hot from the 3 point line on a terrible team in a blowout, his playmaking and BBiq are far more promising IMO.
Het got hot vs a good team that is considered a contender with a super star or two... Cavs have not yet seen a team like Boston, tonight they play Denver... Green working with alot less than Mobley and having a monster game. Imagine Mobley playing with Wood and KPJ, he would never touch the ball... These guys don't pass...
To be fair, though, most of his 3-point makes were early in the game when the team either had the lead or the score was super close. That 3-pointer at the end of the first quarter was disgusting. And even his dunks at the end were when the Rockets were still trying to make a run to get back in it. I agree, though, that his playmaking has been the pleasant surprise of the early season for me. I actually think he might have potential to run the offense down the line. If nothing else, he certainly deserves to have the ball in his hands more than he had in the first two games and has earned the right to tag team possessions with KPJ more often.
Yes this seems like a different situation than the Harden cheerleader squad in the dish gloating about “our boy” Jalen green struggling his first game out
Conversely, they aren't a good team and weren't expected to be [noteworthy though, they need a legit plan to eventually get good], and Jalen still has tons of room to improve on his 2s and FTs.
I'm not talking exclusively about Lavine's future. His past three years in Chicago have been just as dominant as any of Booker or Mitchell's. All three were drafted 13th, so draft expectations aren't the reason why he's seen as lesser than the other two. Booker was clowned on too until Phoenix actually put a decent team around him. Now everyone acts like they knew how good he was all along. I have high expectations for Mobley and would have been ecstatic to draft him. I expect him to win DPOY someday. But if you told me Green was going to be Lavine or Booker's level I'd be happy with it. And frankly, I think he can go a level above them.
Oh yeah, I don't mind D-rock .. (sometimes)... Dudes like @HP3 thou, they just get worst and worst... Stupid ass takes they continue to be wrong about and their only escape is to try and knock on Green for his first two games ever!
With the Rockets Mobley would back up Wood or play the 5...neither holding up their own vs Centers for very long. Jared Allen is listed as center every game for Cavs. He weighs 245 pounds. Much better than the 210 of Mobley/Wood. Alleviates some of that blunt force trauma on the lightweights night in and night out.
No offense, but it really blows my mind that someone can not see and/or hear Jalen Green’s basketball intelligence. The lack of turnovers, the shooting efficiency at every level thus far. The calm confidence and work ethic, the adjustments from game to game. I just can’t understand how you can look at that 19 year old and not see gobs of potential in both his talent and mind-state.
Much more impactful how? At age 25 they both have 1 all star appearance. Gasols team managed to make one playoff with battier and Mike Miller, then that team tanked to one of the worst teams in the league, before getting rid of Gasol to rebuild. Lavine just turned 26, the age Pau got traded yo the Lakers. That's beside a point because neither Bosh nor Gasol were true franchise players nor super stars. They are all star big men whose career only took off because they played second/third fiddle to Lebron and Kobe. Pau Gasol would be be known as a Zach Randolph if he never left Memphis. It's a dumb thing to say that you don't pass up players ever because they can become Gasol or Bosh. Even you look at the draft Lavine was in, he would have been picked 2nd or 3rd in hindsight.
