It's funny the quote is using Trump as the gold standard of what is horrible ("can shoot people on 5th ave.") and then tries to stain that onto Fauci. Fail. I was distracted by the false comparison. After that, I have no idea what point you were making. Carry on.
it is true that certain elements on the left see Fauci as their golden calf, so from that standpoint the formulation is apt.
for the record, it's possible that Trump is simultaneously a buffoon, unfit for the office of the presidency... ...and right about the origins of covid.
This Keebler Elf needs to be tarred and feathered. What a freaking hack and a crook. He was in charge of the AIDS crisis in the 80s and also made a cluster F out of it.
Donald J Trump has been defrauding the public for over 50 years, claiming that he is a self-made millionaire. in fact, the dotard was a trust fund baby, he was already a millionaire (by inheritance) by age 8. it has been estimated that he had inherited over $400 millions from his dad
I've not been following this very very closely or reading through all the documents but taking this and most of the evidence I've seen doesn't show that Fauci knowingly funded gain of function of research. As it states above gain of function research could've been funded but done so on a rogue basis.
Strawman. Trump ACTUALLY said he could shoot people. Nobody on the left said such a thing. It's a stupid "formulation". So again, the right attacking Fauci is like making chicken soup with spoiled chicken. There might be merit to investigating but it is not done in good faith ...and your quote is the perfect evidence. The intention of an investigations should be to seek truth, not score points.
well, we know Fauci lied to congress. pointing that a first step towards uncovering the truth. any points scored are incidental.
Lied to Congress about what exactly? Wouldn’t this alleged research have been happening during the Trump admin?
It’s amusing how far the right will go to discredit Fauci…. Even teaming up with the far left to discredit Fauci over animal testing.
That's where we differ. "points scored are incidental". I disagree. Intent is everything. It's why there is a difference in 1st degree murder and manslaughter. Both are punishable but one is way way worse. In order to convict, you have to understand INTENT. The INTENT of the current investigation is exactly to score points. Now we have chicken soup with rotten chicken and the whole batch is spoiled. Fauci's role in this is like blaming a house fly for landing on the titanic. Your fixation on how prominent Fauci has become and therefore focusing your energy on him does not come close to a root cause analysis. I'm not condoning his behavior. I'm saying it's misplaced.
Not misplaced if you are concerned about points scored. I'm sure many of us simply care about the truth. For those that care about scoring political points, truth is incidental but not a goal.
