Quite expensive bench player who is vastly inferior to the Turkish great sengun

Absolutely it's costly, we could just trade him. It's not like we're paying luxury tax, I think one season of Theis tutelage could be good for Sengun

Wait until the trade deadline and I’m somewhat certain somebody will be looking for a big like him, whether due to injury or sheer need for a rotational big

I have only seen 10-15 minute highlights of the games so far - why doesn't Sengun play more? At least from what I have seen he looks like our best playmaker and actually a plus on defense (which was the biggest question mark around him). I know he doesn't always shoot the ball well, and he definetly needs to get used to the speed of the game (he seems to often underestimate the speed with which a defender can get to a position or swat at the ball) and get a stronger grip on the ball when going for the finish - but he always seems like a plus for me and someone that should improve with more minutes.

because our coach doesn't know how to tell vet he has to sit in favor of 18 year old rookie from Turkey that doesn't even know how to say good morning in English but already is better at basketball than Theis ever was

The fact that Theis is starting over Sengun is reason enough to fire Silas. Not only is Sengun a much better player offensively and defensively, but having Sengun in the starting lineup provides additional benefits:

    • More minutes for Sengun to develop
    • More playing time with Wood to learn how they fit, whether they are a good long-term duo in light of possible decisions about Wood’s future this coming summer (or trade deadline)
    • Playmaking support for KPJ and Green, allowing them to play their games and develop without having to take on way more than they can do today
    • More fun for the fans. If we are losing anyways, can we at least see they young ones play and get excited about the future? No offense to Theis, but I’m not staying up at night to watch him play.

Starting Theis means we lose more games, we develop less and we learn less, while having less fun. That’s as dumb as it gets.

I think allowing Sengun to log 18-25 minutes off the bench for the first 30 or so games is the right strategy. Some think he's ready for more, but he needs to find what works and build his stamina. There's a substantial injury risk you throw him out there for longer stretches. He is still fairly inexperienced at the 5-spot, having only one year of international experience in the trenches.

No offense to Theis but im switching off when he is anything more than 10min a game player. Id much rather see 10 straight EG deep threes off the front iron than watch Theis

Theis is a trade bait, they probably didn't expect Sengun to be ready this quickly. More than likely, a playoff team or a playoff contending team will get desperate and make a trade to get something going.

Big men do get injured much more easily, and finding a replacement isn't easy. Theis + Gordon is a very attractive package for playoff teams that need to fill out some holes in the roster.

I want him to play 30+ mins a game by the quarter point of the season. No need to get in a huge hurry. I would like to see us get rid of House and Gordan so we can see more of Jaygup, Garuba, and KMJ. At some point moving Theis could be an option, but we are really short on bigs right now, so we would need to either get a journeyman banger in return or sign someone with size off the scrap heap for 10 mins a game.

Well he did foul out in the limited minutes. He hustles so hard on every possession I wonder if he has a gas tank issue.

I think you are right for now that he is going to have to build up some endurance. I would still like to see him start so he and Wood can build on what looks like very good chemistry together. He also really needs to have at least a respectable outside shot or defenses will sag and quit going for his fake at the 3 pt line and his ability to facilitate will diminish.

Only reason he couldn't do what he could do at halftime during the game is his excitement and no confidence about it. He needs to hit his first shot as soon as possible. I told you when he was drafted that he could shoots. He didn't seem to have this skill as tall guys didn't shoot much in Europe but his shooting style was always ideal to be a consistent shooter.

He tried a total of three three-pointers in three games. One of them was from his own half when the time was running out and the other two were shots that he took without confidence. If he picks up the ball and throws it decisively, I think he will hit the first hit. This season and next season he will go a long way in that regard and will be a consistent shooter. I am sure of that.
