Just realized he has 0 free throws so far through 3 games? I know the rookie whistle is a thing but man that is ridiculous. He's gotten hammered numerous times.
It’s a bad take to say I want his scoring profile to be more varied than Kyle Korver? That I would prefer he didn’t score 100% of his points on catch and shoot 3s? I guess if you’re fine with that then that’s your opinion, but I expect more.
Refs have been absolutely garbage since game 1. Our new announcer home dude said something about refs will give you more favorable calls when you build up a reputation. I am thinking so basically you are saying is refs are biased and don't call games as they see them? Which we all know is true. Grinds my gears.
I was so giddy watching his speed, and mad hops on 2 dunks over Tatum. His three ball domination was amazing. I can’t believe how some dip shiits on this board are calling him a bust. Here is a big FU Game from J Green to those fake asss unappreciative “fans“ (even in a loss).
I said it already, He's the fastest and quickest player I've ever seen on an NBA court for his size. If you're the best at one thing in the NBA you're a lock for an all-star game. I never was concerned with whether he could be a Zach Lavine or Tracy McGrady, great scorers that can guide a team a few playoff berths. I was concerned if he could be a James Harden, a Kobe Bryant, or a Steph Curry, a guy you can build a championship team around at his best, and a top 5 player in basketball. After three games, anyone with the answer to that question is either lying or stupid.
It's impossible.to judge what Green's ceiling is primarily because we don't know what his final adult body is going to look like. He's going to naturally gain some muscle. The question is how much? Once he fills out to his full adult size body, then we can have a better idea of what his ceiling is. If he can gain another 20 lbs of muscle and still maintain the same quickness and leaping ability, his feeling will be unlimited.
Green's quickness at 180 is an exciting rookie. At 190, an all-star. At 200, an All-NBA player. at 210, a top 5 player on planet earth.
Has to do more, he is more of a 3pt shooter and a dunker, has to expand more, his drives are not that crisp yet.
To be honest, I am not seeing that elite quickness just yet, he has great leaping abilities, but not seeing elite explosion against good defenses, not just Summer league defenses yet. 24 pts out of 30 came from outside shooting.
Eh I definitely saw it. He's just not finishing around the rim at the rate at which he wants now. He's getting by perimeter defenders pretty routinely.
The elite explosion was what sold me before the draft, granted I just watched highlights, not actual Gleague games. I think it's a matter of confidence most likely, it should come to him eventually. This was a big "proof-of-principle" game for JG. 30 pts in his 3rd NBA game, I'd be hard pressed to find a "bona fide" bust who has done that. That was a checkmark that he belongs to the league. He now gets enough breathing room to refine his skills and build confidence. My biggest issue is, does he have a superstar mentality? Or will he be a second tier complimentary player? That will take years to establish. For now we just sit back and watch the kid improve skill-wise.
How about the KPJ experiment is over, this guy single handedly cost us with his lackadaisical play and just not being careful with the ball. He’s already Harden like in being careless / nonchalant.
It's just rookie stuff for Green right now. He looks good on offense but often gets owned on defense. Celts ran a lot of plays isolating him on defense and as a result he posted a team low +/- at -12. Hopefully the staff puts some focus on that during their analysis so he doesn't wind up in positions like that so often. As a defender we don't yet know what his ceiling might become.
