Interesting. I’m assuming they won’t boot anyone off the original list of 50. But I wonder if they’ll add any of the snubs from pre-1997 like Dominique, Bernard King, and McAdoo.
Nique and McAdoo for belong for sure. I loved King's game, but he didn't have the longevity to make this list.
Even though he eventually fulfilled his place as an all-timer I thought including Shaq over Wilkins back in 96 was stupid. I hope the NBA makes good and include him in this go around though there are a LOT of great players post 1996 that could see Nique getting squeezed out again.
I actually don’t believe that how they made this list of 75 was taking the original 50 and are adding 25 new names. Old names can be left off the new list. But Clyde has zero chance of being left off. He just wasn’t 1 of the first 25 announced.
We'll see but, imo, there aren't a lot of names from the original 50 list that you can say "Okay I'm going to take you off and put in a post 1996 player" without making a compelling argument/case to do so. I did a list in the NBA thread for this same topic and I don't see more than 25 names post 1996 that are automatic locks. Once you get past the no brainers it starts to get difficult to make a case for the Damian Lillards, the Chris Webbers, the Kyrie Irvings, etc. of the league in lieu of who was on the original 50 list.
I read this as 25 games per night and was wondering how that was going to work. Guess I need that 3rd cup of coffee…
Not saying I agree or disagree. I just listened to podcast a week or two ago and they talked about the upcoming list of 75 and they said that voters were not mandated to leave the original 50 and add 25. Though I have heard many people who actually had votes for this list say that they were not going to take anyone off the original 50.
Thanks for that info because I wasn't aware of the rules for the 75 list. I originally thought that maybe someone post 96 could kick out, say, Dave Debusschere but then when you comprise a list of post 96 candidates who could be considered, it's not that extensive: Locks: Duncan Garnett Dirk Giannis LeBron Durant Kobe Wade Harden Curry Nash Kidd Chris Paul Iverson McGrady Westbrook Reggie Miller Kawhi Gary Payton That's 19 locks. @durvasa made me rethink about putting Carmelo and Mutombo as locks so they fall into the "possible" category: Carmelo Mutombo Vince Carter Ray Allen Pau Gasol Yao Chris Bosh Chris Webber Ben Wallace Dwight Howard Anthony Davis Kyrie Irving Damian Lillard Luka (if they added Shaq in 96 Luka could make a case here)
Not sure if you are a fan of the Thinking Basketball podcast but Ben made his predictions a few weeks ago and I’d like to think he pays attention enough to these types of things to make a good list. https://podcasts.google.com/feed/aH...EwjTnsa7q9nzAhVDmWoFHUdGCVkQjrkEegQIAhAI&ep=6
