It's now a 3 game series. We got home advantage, the momentum and the swagger back. Not saying we've won this series by any means, but what a difference a day makes!
The key is surviving those first 3 innings. Those first 3 innings man were rough, felt like they could break it open at any moment but once we got past those they seemed to cool down. Hopefully, the law of averages is hitting in and they go cold for the next 2 games and we get hot.
Maybe not tip pitches but... Ortiz was talking about how Cora and the team are so prepared for the pitching they face so my guess is they are super honed in on whoever will start the game which would just mean good data and well-prepared approaches. Almost all of their damage in this series is in the first 3 innings. Could just be a coincidence sure but if you're playing against a team that has a good pre-game approach then it makes sense that as the game goes on and more variables come into play they might be less effective. If we can just survive the first 3 innings without giving up like 6 runs or something I feel good about our chances. They really started to look human again as the game went on. Game 2 and 3 they looked like the baseball version of the Monstars.
There are advantages to falling asleep at 7 and waking up at midnight. I looked at the final score before watching the game so there was NO STRESS.
Framber needs to go 6+ to prevent guys from pitching 3 days in a row. Raley, Maton, and Javier are off limits for tomorrow. That leaves Graveman (doubtful), Pressley, Stanek, Garcia, and Taylor. Speaking of Graveman, I'm so glad to see his cutter-like movement on his two seamer back, haven't seen it as crisp since his first appearance in SF.
Everything you say is true. The Stros have gotten, what, ~6 total innings from their starters in 4 games this series?
Our starters are not this bad, nor is Boston's offense this good (overall). Don't know if I believe the tipping rumor or not, but something has been f#cked up. The baseball Gods grace is the only thing that could have brought about what the pen did today. Despite it now being a best of 3 with home field advantage, we got to get more than 1 or 2 innings out of our starters. The kind of bullpen performance we got today happening again is about as likely as lighting hitting the same spot twice. It also wouldn't hurt if our offense got going before the 8th inning.
Joe Buck is unlike his Father, his father is way more lovable and charismatic. Joe is obvious calling games for the money. His father has more passion and love for the game and always treats opponents with respect. Joe Buck is just depressing.
Christian Javier no doubt must've looked up to Pedro Martinez a Domican, a Red Sox Legend and in Fenway Park. Christian Javier brought out his best.
I still was in utter shock after going to bed down 2-1 in the 6th. I wake up and had to do a double take on my phone as I saw we were ahead 7-2. Then I got out of bed and watched us the rest of the way to victory. What a game. We actually held their offense in check. The bullpen did well. Our offense didn't suck for once. Finally we showed some real fight. And to do it largely against Eovaldis smug ass? Even better. Go Astros.
