How surprising that I'm not aware of every single restaurant in the Houston area considering I'm there about 7 days a year.

I went to Pecan Lodge about 3 times since I used to work around there, but only one time did I think their brisket was all it was hyped up to be. The other two times it was kind of dry. It was considered among the best in the DFW area. One thing I loved each time I went there was their fried okra. And I'm a guy that really doesn't care about sides at bbq joints. lol.

Just down the road from there is Terry Black's. They had some great bbq the couple of times I went there. I thought it was better than Pecan Lodge.

They are run by some Alief peeps that grew up in the hood with me. Asian style Texas BBQ.

Don't know anything about it, but that looks like the old area I used to work in about 25 years ago. I think the best thing there used to be across the street from there : Bellaire Broiler Burger which sadly shut down recently after 60+ years.

Then we probably crossed paths if it was around the early-to-mid 90's and lunchtime. The #6 was a favorite. I worked with a pharmacist who had heart surgery and would credit that place for giving it to him. lol.

The place is well loved by lots of folks .
They have unique non traditional items . The brisket on its own is good but not stellar in my opinion .

I thought it was brisket on a triscuit. Which doesn't sound that great.

Anyone been to Mimsy's in Crockett? I hear it's good. Just named in the top 50 by Texas Monthly...I think number 21.

They're ok. The brisket fried rice is great. The rest is good but not up to the hype, IMO.

Cattleack? I think they're only open something like Thursdays, Fridays and some Saturdays and only for lunch, right?

Agreed. Good BBQ but not great. I would like to try some of their daily specials though.
