Don’t know why you even post here when all you do is talk **** about the Astros. Go join a Red Sox or Yankees forum.
I don't really question the organization much on matters like this because they are a lot smarter than me and have access to much more information. However it's really hard to not think they f**ked up letting Garcia go all season. Many of us just assumed he would require some kind of rest to avoid hitting a wall. He never got a rest and once his inning count reached career highs he certainly seems to have hit a wall. His stuff has been visibly less sharp over the last month or so and just can't miss bats. I'm not worried long term because I think the guy we saw for the first 5 months is the guy he really is, but it sucks that he's a shell of what he was when the most eyeballs are on him and the games matter the most.
Perhaps they did (intended to rest him), but we had other issues with other pitchers in September and the pennant race was closer than many thought it would be.
I doubt that was the case because if you think a pitcher needs time off you don't leave it up to chance. That's something the Texans or some stupid franchise does. They easily could have given Javier a few more starts earlier in the year. Hell even a few starts by Bielak wouldn't have been the end of the world.
Hey guys brighten up...we are going to rock Eduardo Rodriguez tonight. He's trash at Fenway (5.5 ERA this season there) and even more trash against us for both his career (1-3 with an ERA approaching 9) and this season. In a really weird way, I think home field might not be the advantage it should be in this series for both teams. Given how bad the starters are for both teams, the road team having the chance to hit first and sucking the air out of the crowd like they did to us is demoralizing Edit: And Urquidy has huge balls of steel...dude already has shown us that before.
The BS other threads continuing to pop up in the Astros forum.... There is something seriously wrong with some people.
Need Urquidy to go at least 5 tonight (preferably 6) and giving up no more than 2 runs. He pitched against them earlier in the season and went six and only giving up one run. That was a long time ago. More than likely tomorrow is a bullpen game for us so the longer Urquidy goes the better.
Altuve/Bregman/Correa are a combined 16-35 against Rodriguez with 3HR, 3 2B, 6 RBI, 6 BB, and around a 1.300 OPS. If Urquidy can pound the zone and let his D work without issuing free passes… I feel really good about this matchup.
I can't watch another performance with multiple walks in the first 1 or 2 innings alone. Seriously it's more frustrating than watching a solo HR by a long shot at this point for me... Luckily Urquidy throws too many strikes if anything.
IMHO this series hinges on Urquidy. Framber and Garcia were awful giving up hits and walks. I have more faith in our bullpen then those two. We need him to be at his best go 6-7 innings and limit the damage to 2-3 runs. Get his confidence up and rest the pen for tomorrow.
I think that's exactly what happened. When Urquidy and then Odo, and then later Grienke went down, they just didnt have enough bodies on the 40 man to start games, and the division got too tight late in the season. The most frustrating is Odo, at a minimum the clown should have been able to eat some innings down the stretch whilst sucking but he couldn't even do that. His suckage leaked out and affected the other parts of the pitching staff, and it showing up now in the playoffs.
