Need some production from Bregs/Alvarez/Gurriel when they are in big spots today. I know Correa and Altuve will carry you, but they need some help.
Particularly Alvarez and Yuli. Those two guys have had what feels like an endless parade of RISPs in big spots, and haven't come through with a big knock yet. They're due.
I'd go with 8 years, $260 with a 4 year opt out. He can reenter free agency at 31 or continue to get an average of $32.5 million/year.
Framber has to give us more then that as we go deeper into the ALCS and hopefully WS. He and Garcia need to go 5 when at home.
This is the starting point: Mets sign shortstop Francisco Lindor to massive 10-year, $341 million extension.
If we start that trend, all of the guys that follow will also expect it: Bregman, Alvarez, Tucker.... I just don't think we go that long. Altuve's 5 for 151 is the longest and richest in club history. I know the market supports a longer contract, but I don't think the FO trends this direction.
If the Astros do, then there isn't money to re-sign Alvarez and Tucker when the time comes. Correa is also injury prone. But He's a leader, good for clubhouse chemistry, solid defense, and rises to the occasion in big situations. I will understand it either way, but I feel like it would be nice to show some loyalty to Correa and take a chance on pulling something off later when it's time to pay Alvarez and Tucker
