I don’t know if he’s the greatest Astro and he’s certainly not the best player on the team anymore. I do think he’s currently the most important player on the team in terms of how his performance predicts the performance of the team. It might be more about where he hits in the lineup then anything specific to him, but when he’s on, the team just seems like a better team overall.
Little has changed since the thread began. Best astro ever along with Puma. Tuve's base running tends to be clumsy in the regular season but in the playoffs, for the most part it works out for him. Yankees game 1 and game 2 2017. Whitesox this year. By now everyone has seen where he trails Bernie Williams by 2 homers for second most in post season history, playing in 54 or so less games. That's not just 'impress' that's legendary stuff.
I'm with you for the most part, but 'Puma? I've got Correa, Bagwell, and Biggio ahead of Puma. Oswalt, too, tbh.
Why not, Berkman was a better postseason player than all of them. If you have Altuve ahead of them, then Berkman should be as well. He's also has the best regular season resume after Biggio and Bagwell, not that the regular season means anything in this thread.
dude had a 5 run error and is a postseason choker defensively now. yips against the rays and now yips against the red sox
Berkman OPS was .992 with us, almost 100 points higher. Correa has the benefit of playing on much, much more talented teams so that people didn't notice when he performed poorly in the postseason in 2018 and 2019
It's time to start: C: Castro 1B: Yuli 2B: Diaz SS: CC 3B: Breg LF: Yordan CF: Chaz RF: Tucker DH: Altuve Maldano does nothing at all. Negative value. Altuve has the yips again and is really taking tolls on games.

Yeah, not a half bad lineup that way. I agree that Machete is costing the team production. Even if he hit like Castro he'd be serviceable.
Berkman's postseason history isn't limited to the Astros. Berkman should have been named the MVP of the St Louis Cardinals 2011 World Series victory. He hit .423 and delivered in the clutch.
Castro has been significantly worse than Maldonado against left handed pitching this year (.561 OPS compared to .665 OPS). I think that's why Castro wasn't in the lineup against a left-hander last night. I expect we'll see him today though. Altuve should have made those plays, but both took weird hops. He played stellar defense against the White Sox. You may want to take a look at Diaz's August through October stats. They were not pretty at the plate, and I don't think they're sitting Brantley against a RHP for Diaz.
Last time I checked this thread is about best Astro ever... if we are saying best player that ever wore an Astro uniform... Joe Morgan is still ahead for second baseman...
Brantley in left the last month has been awful... I would not have been opposed if Yordan and Brantley switched positions.
You were ridiculing Berkman's postseason track record without even mentioning his exceptional postseason performance while playing for St Louis. Maybe you didn't know about it -- that's ok.
As an Astro, Jose Altuve has been a World Series champion, AL MVP, ALCS MVP, 7-time All Star, 3-time batting champion, 5-time Silver Slugger, and he has a Gold Glove. Career batting average of 308. He’s third all-time in postseason home runs and fifth all time in postseason runs scored.
