Jalen Green - what are your expectations for this year?

Really? Because I can probably name off 20 games Trae Young and Lonzo Ball played in their first season that was worse or equally as bad.

 

What? How does that apply to your "Green was never that good" comment? You're all over the place with your takes. Yes Sengun is a fine player who shows maturity and a high bball IQ due to being put in those positions at an early age. Green played 16 games in the GLeague and before that dominated the high school and AAU circuit. Its not apples to apples and you should know this.

Again, talent needs to be evident. Not all Euro players will be successful because they started playing pro ball early that is obvious. If you can draft an MVP type player like the guys you mention you have a better shot of securing a solid player VS going off the unicorn type measureables and hoping your in house coaches can extract the most from them. Top US players flame out too all the time. Its not an exact science.

 

I don't have disagreements with Jalen's fashion choice, in fact I have zero opinions on fashion. I'm just saying he comes across as feminine... For such a woke message board, I'm surprised how many people here took "feminine" as an insult. What's wrong with feminine? Are you guys saying that feminine is negative?

Being feminine has zero indication on work ethic or mental fortitude. However, it does have correlation with aggressiveness. Like it or not, NBA basketball is a game of toxic masculinity. Until our woke overlords ban NBA and make us all watch synchronized swimming, I doubt you can succeed in the league without aggression and doggedness.

As I said, the hope is Jalen will get there. I know the thread is about expectations, but I don't have any either way. We just don't know. Kid will either find his inner dog or he'll be a bust, I don't think anyone can tell now...

I'm going to hold my judgement until 1 more preseason game, right now its too early to tell... After next game, I will be able to accurately gauge where in the top 100 players of all time Green will stand.... To make any assumption before the preseason is even over is absolutely a kneejerk reaction and more than likely wrong.

you're right when I was young that was definitely an outfit. In fact, the moment I saw Jalen on draft night, I was reminded of this classic Chapelle skit. It will be uncanny if Jalen Green makes this a real life. Uncanny!

 

I'm not sure what I'm watching is accelerating their growth. I'm afraid it's going to shatter their confidence.

 

Maybe you don't watch basketball. Trae Young got bounced around like a rag doll for first part of his rookie season way worse than Green did yesterday , and throwing the ball all over the court.

And I do mean Lonzo ball, maybe you don't watch other teams. He struggled with every part of his game during his rookie season not just shooting.

Jumping and maybe shooting, however, is quite literally all he does at the moment. How is this a hot take? (I even gave him maybe shooting!)

 

I think we will still lose games regardless, but showcasing Eric Gordon against starters could prove better for his trade value.
