Sorry, I thought you were saying it was HPU’s fault for swinging this game in the White Sox favor. After the game became 9-6 in the 4th after the bogus non-interference call, I stopped watching because I knew how that game was going to end. Should Dusty have pulled Garcia mid batter? No. Should he have pulled Stanek for Raley in the eighth? No. But, it wasn’t his fault the Astros lost.
McCullers in game 4 is an easy choice. The question is do you trust Urquidy against a right-handed heavy lineup in game 4 or Framber in a rematch after the White Sox pounded him in game 2. McCullers gets another start, either way.
Don't know about that. Yimmi will be available in Dusty's eyes. I don't hate Yimmi. I actually like his stuff but relievers get in these funks that it takes a month to get out of.
Is McCullers on normal rest in that scenario? If he is that makes sense. Then you have Framber with Urquidy as your long relief option if needed.
Im happy with this. Today is my bday and I believe the Astros have played 2 or 3 times on this date the last few years. All losses
Rather start Urquidy and Win Lance McCullers Jr should be the Game 1 Starter vs Rays or Red Sox I believe this will happen, the Astros players will talk about how to improve, scout players and fielding.
Just glad MLB actually did the right thing and postpone this game. While I agree that they have to go with Lance, I guess my confidence is that we get to the ALCS and I don't want him unavailable on regular rest until Game 3 of the ALCS. But it's stupid to look ahead like that and he should definitely start tomorrow.
I'm not sure you really start LMJ tomorrow. Think of it game theoretically. If you start him tomorrow and you win, you lose him for the next round. If you start him tomorrow and you lose, you start Urquidy/Framber in game 5. If you start Urquidy tomorrow and you win, you have LMJ to start the next series. If you start Urquidy tomorrow and you lose, you have LMJ for game 5. If the only variable were the starting pitching, then I think it's kinda clear that you would NOT start LMJ tomorrow. If you win, you are just burning him. And if you lose, you're just replacing an Urquidy Game 4 start with an Urquidy/Framber Game 5 start. Of course, there are more considerations than just starting pitching, so maybe it would make sense to start LMJ in game 4 to try to end the series faster, save the pen, etc. And of course there's LMJ's home/road splits that superficially suggest that he's better on the road (higher ERA at MM park), although the peripherals paint a much closer picture.
I think Framber was effective at keeping the ball on the ground and limiting hard contact until the third time through. If it comes to game 5, then I think you go with him and hope he gets you two times through the lineup. Then Urquidy ideally another two times through to the 8th or 9th. Stanek and Pressly are really the only two guys you’d want to see out of the bullpen right now.
I’d say play to win this series, not worry about next. LMJ in normal rest as a “stopper” on the road is the best way to win game 4. If that fails you have your your younger guys at home.
