Yes, I do trust Stone and his ability to manage cap. If he was willing to give up significant assets for Simmons it would already be done. Saying Simmons max salary is not a factor for any team acquiring him is just plain dumb. I really don’t think Stone is even considering Simmons after the draft he just had.
Instead we need to spread the money out and possibly overpay for cats like: Kelly Oubre:$15M (19/20), $15M (20/21), $12M (21/22), $12M (22/23) or Otto Porter: 2017 thru 2020 average salary $26.6M or Kent Bazemore: 2016 thru 2019 average salary $17.5M or Tyler Johnson: 2016 thru 2019 average salary $12.5M or Capela: $13M (18/19), $14.9M (19/20), $16M (20/21), $17M (21/22), $18.2M (22/23) Simmons does what Capela does but much better.....to the tune of three straight All Star appearances. ______________________________________________________________ But its probably a moot point since it looks like the King's will probably get Simmons. If I'm the King's I would go Buddy Heild/ Marvin Bagley x Simmons (works on trade machine) Simmons gets to go to California Sacramento would do well with Fox/Haliburton/Davion Mitchell and Simmons all as facilitators. Davion Mitchell and Harrison Barnes can play off ball. Barnes (20/21) 16 pts per game and shot 39% from 3. Just add more shooters the following seasons. Kings would have a bright future. Trading any of those facilitators for picks this year or following seasons.
I've been saying for months that I thought Simmons will end up in Sac-town (more than other destinations) I could see us getting in on that deal PHI: Haliburton (SAC) + Hield (SAC) + Gordon (HOU) + 2022 FRP (SAC) Top 5 protected + 2024 FRP (SAC) unprotected + right to swap in 2023 (SAC) SAC: Simmons (PHI) + Thybulle (SAC) + Reed (SAC) HOU: Bagley III (SAC)
I wouldn't hate that. Bagley is a decent buy-low guy, even though I think his ceiling is a worse version of Sengun. But I think that's way too high of a price for the Kings to pay; I don't think they would go for it.
Who is advocating we spread the money out for all that trash? I'm just advocating we keep our options open until we have a realistic chance of competing before we bring in a super max that's not worth a super max. Evidently most of the league agrees about Simmons. I sure wouldn't call Heild and Bagley a haul.
I haven't been not saying it; but taking the don't be surprised if the Rockets and Sixers make a deal right before opening night thing, as all deals are worse than our possible best offer on the table. No team has more incentive to trade right now for Wall-Simmons than Rockets-Sixers.
Because that's what happened the last time the league had a big cash jump. Mediocre players made out like bandits. Talk is the league salary cap may jump up from current to $170M plus apron. Their will be some heavy spending for trash players. Rockets included. I would rather have the devil I know about than the devil's that don't get you anywhere and don't make an All Star team. That's just me. The Simmons contract will end up looking good in a few years. Morey wanted Tyler Johnson, Kent Bazemore and paid Eric Gordon and Ryan Anderson too much and I think I like Morey's judgement more than most here on CF's. Maybe you including. Just saying.
What is our best offer you are referring to? Simmons contract will never be a bargain regardless of how the salary cap goes. Just don’t think he is as good as you do, but respect your opinion. Looks like most of the gm’s in the league agree with me.
Poor man's Aaron Gordon. LMFAO!!!! Now we know for certain how bad your basketball takes really are. I've always wondered about your dependence on hallucinogens to explain your alternate reality takes but now I see that your problems are much deeper than that. Be well, you brain damaged deviant.
Problem is , its Simmons who makes himself a point guard. If he'd play PF / C we wouldn't be having this conversation. You put a quality point guard & Embiid with him as the 4 playing out of the high post and that's tough to defend .... but he isn't open to that idea. That's why I don't get all the people who say he'd fit here ..... No , the same problems would exist , even if the team was a few games better. I can't give up 3-4 picks plus Wall's expiring (the cap space) for that guy - I'd much rather keep my powder dry while my young core matures then in a year or two down the road use my cap space & draft assets to bring in high quality help. I can see them being a desirable destination in 2023 & beyond as this group matures.
So bizarre to me that Ben didn't just take the Harden route instead of his little boycott. That's an expensive lesson in how contracts work. Klutch and Simmons now know Morey isn't the type to sell for pennies on the dollar.
Awww poor baby needs his binkie and pacifier.....It's clear you can't even defend your cap statement from earlier. Just stick to talking about basketball in general and posting your twitter links...... Stop stan-ing for players, it's embarrassing how much you fall for them and lose track of the world. You want to be the twitter boy of GARM that's cool but your Simmons takes are just trash.
Honestly it's getting to the point where I'm sad for Simmons. Not sad to the point where I'm going to say he's a victim (someone else has already taken that spot in the NBA Dish) but like this kid just lost out on at least $9 million that he won't ever get back because the people that are advising him throughout this whole ordeal are selfish and incompetent.
Correct me if I'm wrong here, but doesn't John Wall have the same representation as Simmons? I was under the impression that he too was repped by Klutch and yet we aren't seeing any of this nonsense in Houston.
You're right that they're both repped by Klutch. The difference here, I think, is that Rich Paul knows that Wall's current contract will be his last big one. So if you aren't going to work with the Rockets to engineer a buyout (e.g. leave money on the table) the best you can do is say "You keep paying my client (meaning I'm also gonna get paid" and we'll stay out of your way until you find a trading partner). Simmons, warts and all, can still command a next big contract. Basically Rich Paul can still milk that cow.
That’s a relief. Way to go Morey. Another wasted year for Embid, who will demand a trade next year. Now that’s someone I could give up some assets for!
