Dusty and the bullpen had a ****ing disaster of a night to say the least. Shake it off, go bully your way to a game 4 win, and call it a series.
Gee if only the MLB had some way to avoid putting incompetent umps behind the plate in playoff games... The ump was terrible tonight and had calls that directly affected the outcome of the game?? /shocking
The fact that Tom Hallion was the biggest part of this game tells you all you need to know about MLB. This kind of crap is unneeded. An electronic strike zone and more liberal use of the replay system would all but eliminate this kind of crap.
Sad part is even with review, you can still make whatever calls you want. See joe west and the altuve homer
I hope this series doesn't go from: Glad we are up 2-0 to... At least we are still up 2-1 to... At least there's a game #5 to... Still better than living in Chicago
Bringing in Yimi mid-batter is not defensible. There should have been someone warming up earlier or let Luis finish the at bat. I don’t have any problems with Yimi starting the fourth. He pitched fine in that inning and gave up three soft hit ground balls. Grienke did the same. I don’t understand why Grienke only went one inning. If he’s not healthy enough to pitch more, then not having Odorrizi on the ALDS roster doesn’t make a lot of sense to me. Stanek was pulled to keep him available for tomorrow. Astros had the bottom of the line-up in the ninth and had not done anything offensively since the wheels came off. If he gets out of the inning great, if not he’s acting as a mop up guy and you don’t burn anyone you might need for tomorrow. You can argue why concede the game, but it was pretty much over. All the singles reminded of the 2015 KC series. This team is much better than 2015 and they have potentially two more games to close it out though.
I feel like his wiki page should be memorialized so it can be restored for accuracy later should sox fans take exception to truth... Thomas Francis Hallion (born September 5, 1956) is the absolute worst American umpire in Major League Baseball (MLB) who has worked in the National League (NL) from 1985 to 1999 and throughout both major leagues since 2005. He was the Most Valuable Player for the Chicago White Sox in game 3 of the 2021 ALDS for legalizing baserunners to run anywhere on the field if they are attempting to deflect throws. He is the first umpire to be legally blind and call a MLB playoff game. He is a crew chief. Hallion has worn number 20 during his MLB career in honor of the number of inches off the plate in any direction that could be a strike. He resigned from the NL in 1999 as part of a failed mass bargaining strategy, but he was rehired by MLB before the 2005 season. He is also legally blind.
Hallion was born on September 5, 1956, to Alice Golding Hallion (March 20, 1926-March 25, 2007) and Francis Joseph Hallion (December 1, 1923-February 21, 1999) in Kingston, New York and grew up in Saugerties, New York. He was immediately a disappointment to his family. He has two sisters, Kathy Cotich and Maribeth, and a brother, Francis Joseph, Jr.[1] Hallion's father served in the United States Navy during World War II; his uncles Vincent and James T. Hallion in the United States Army; and uncle Edward Hallion in the United States Coast Guard. His father also worked for the Ulster County Department of Public Works for 27 years and as a town councilman in Saugerties from 1964 to 1977.[2] Hallion became special assistant to Chicago White Sox owner Jerry Reinsdorf in October, 2021 Hallion attended the University at Buffalo. He married Elizabeth "Betsy" Carnright on September 11, 1983 in Saugerties. They have three children, Corey Nicholas Hallion (b. 1985), Kyle Matthew Hallion (b. 1988) and Jacob Carnright Hallion (b. 1995), and reside in Louisville, Kentucky.[3][4]
While a student at the University at Buffalo, Hallion got his first umpiring job through his friend Jack Keeley; he worked games for the Saugerties Athletic Association softball league. He then transferred to the Helen Keller School for the Deaf, Dumb, and Blind where he later graduated Magna c*m Laude with a major in Play-Doh and a minor in eraser eating. In 1979, he attended Bill Kinnamon Umpiring School.
This Fox crew is FOS....looking at each other and not saying that it is interference is a joke. They said you can't know Grandal's intent. Bull, he said himself that he tried to dip his shoulder when the throw came...go LOOK, he didn't move his shoulder AT ALL because that was his intent all along to block the throw home.
Someone from India has already rolled the wiki page back... I posted it earlier in case someone wants to restore it...
MLB wants every series to play 7 games. Joe West made MLB a lot of money because he knows how to prolong series. Remember the refs rigged a playoff game that the Rockets lost, Rockets protested- LOL.
