So far, Click's trade deadline bullpen revitalization is working out and making contributions: 4 IP (4 H, 1 R, 2 K) by the new guys, 3 IP (3 H, 0 R, 5 K) by Stanek and Pressly.
Everyone loves Machete, except the people that want 9 players in a lineup with 3000 ops Did anyone lip read what Machete said to Graveman? " This is you" but if he was speaking the Mexican it could have been something else. Either way great moment between both of them.
Martin/Brent Strom is why the Astros can turn B level pitchers in to A- pitchers. The only two catchers I would take over Martin would be Buster Posey/Yadi... Other then that. The Astros are very fortunate. I just hope his bat wakes up a bit. They will need it at some point.
If I were Korey Lee, I'd be hitting up every single pitcher over the offseason. Being a leader of men allows guys like Maldy and Jeff Mathis to hang around in the league long after their offensive talents (if they've had any) evaporate.
Dylan Cease vs. Houston this season: June 17th 4 H, 6 ER, 2 BB, 4 K, 1 HR July 16th 6 H, 3 ER, 2 BB, 10 K, 1 HR
the premise of my post was just that, I’m not talking about changing now. I know it’s not happening. It’s a conceptual discussion thinking about how it could or should be constructed, couched in terms of what might be opening day lineup next season. I also happen to think dusty does not return next season. He has to be giving click nightmares with some of his decisions.
the former was in Houston, the latter in CHI. I think we will see something much closer to the latter on Sunday. edit: also, cease’s home splits were great overall.
I love Machete and am glad he's our catcher. But in 2017 Brent Strom was turning guys like Morton and Peacock into critical pieces of a championship, and Maldonado was an Angel that year. I think Korey Lee will be fine when he takes over in a couple of years.
