If you set the over/under for HoF who were on teams that “cheated” or “cheated” themselves at 99.9%, i’m snap calling the over
Just one 3 game series. Chicago won that series 2-1. Giolito pitched a complete game giving up 1 run in one of the games. Rondon pitched 7 shutout innings in the other. Astros have already lit up Giolito and Rondon has some injury issues.
I'm no scout but his stuff is great, he just has issues with locating it. And he's been too curve-happy, while being predictable and then hanging a few of them.
If Astros traded for a starter, they would move a starter to the pen. Even if starter sucked in pen during season, improvement to rotation would be worth it in the regular season and Urquidy would be in pen now.
Valid point but MS wasn’t going to happen so you pick up what you can so at time KG was what we thought at the time a great get
What can I say, I prefer big trades and big free agent acquisitions than piddly **** that may or may not regress to what Astros already have.
I thought Astros would be waving Meyers and someone else (maybe Brown) which normally should be very competitive for a rental such that they could end up with one of the best pitchers available. This year, not so much.
Good call. Chargois was a great return (or would have been a good get). Who did the Stros have to send back, comparable to him + a young promising minor league kid?
The Astros give up what now for Max and Trea? Jeeeeebus man. Would have killed for a frontline starter plus bullpen help. So they "settled" for bullpen help, oh no. ETA: like Berrios, who was totally mediocre post-trade, and Kimbrel who was complete dogsh!t? Oh, eta again, Toronto traded a top ~25 and a top ~75 prospect for Berrios.
I wasn't looking for someone instead of Graveman, Montero, Yimi, or Maton.... I wanted ANOTHER arm. Of the other guys that were traded I liked Mychael Givens, Daniel Hudson, Richard Rodriguez, or Ryan Tepera. I also wanted Ian Kennedy but he struggled when traded to the Phillies.
Takes 2 to trade... I remember the first time I saw Givens with the O's against us a few years ago...I said "this kid has nasty ****, watch out"; since then he's been a complete roller-coaster of success, just like most relievers.
At this point we’re stuck with what with what we got so its all moot but yea I wanted MS too but from the get go it never felt like it was going to happen. It still confounds me how we’re supposed to believe the league hated Luhnow yet he could still make the trades he did.
