Pressly gave up a not hard hit single then had two strikeouts and a ground out. From the comments on this board you’d think he gave up multiple home runs or something.
I'm trying to understand the reasoning behind not pitching your setup and closer in an ALDS game when he's had 4 complete days of rest. The score is irrelevant. Guys need work, and his struggle in the 9th proved that. I recognize playoff bullpen overwork can be an issue, but damn...it's game 1 of the playoffs. Would you prefer his first appearance to be in a pressure packed situation after no work for even more time? That makes no sense.
It's funny how we view things. I thought he was struggling too but at the end of the day he had 1 inning with 2 strikeouts, 0 runs and a bloop single
Also (mainly?) to discuss the defensive alignment and where guys are going with the ball if it's hit to them. He can communicate that to the rest of the IF with hand signs, or trashcans
White sox put a little pressure on with a plethora of soft contact hits. Keep it moving. Win tomorrow and the Sox will be mentally compromised against a very experienced team that knows how to close teams out.
Not hard hit is an understatement, is was a lazy blooper that fell in. If it had been hit hard at all it would have been a fly out.
He thew 21 pitches, 13 strikes, hadnt pitched since last Saturday, he needed the work. If needed he should be able to go tomorrow. I'd be more concerned with his knees at this point
I've always found it different. I guess I just never questioned why before. Never say never. We keep talking about how we need to use the money to build the rest of the team. If the Astros young pitchers prove this October that they can be top of the rotation playoff guys for the next few seasons, that is no longer a long term issue. Issue is mainly what is Correa hoping to make.
