Glad I'm working from home still, in order to watch the game....would suck to be commuting home an hour + into the game. These day games the Astros get stuck with year after year suck. LFG!
I just checked Astros.com and activating Seth Martinez is the only move they've made since the end of the season, (yesterday) With no corresponding move, we have 29 players who have to be trimmed down to 26 and possibly another one if Bielak is activated.
I land in Luxembourg from Milan at 10:30pm CET (3:30 central US). No WiFi on flight. I expect the Astros to be 3-1 by the time I connect on a Bergman HR and Tucker 2-run double.
Just making sure. It hasn't been this easy to get Astros playoff tickets since 2001... that's the only reason for the concern. Even if its not SRO, the fans there should be extremely into the game. Reminder... standing for every 2 strike pitch (when astros pitching) is the norm. Standing for every AB with a RISP is the norm. Standing when a guy reaches 1B on a walk/error in the 2nd inning is also the norm because its the playoffs. If you're sitting behind people who like to stand... you better get your ass up too.
That's a memory you can always hold on to even though things didn't go so well in the end. I was just thankful coach brought a little TV. I vividly remember it sitting on one of those plastic back chairs with metal legs. There was about 6 of us huddled around the 8" screen waiting for our rides to get home. I see you Buck!
Got to re-live all of this with that damn Mets 30 for 30 (episode 3 is nearly entirely devoted to this series). I was impressed and then pissed how much attention the documentary, and the Mets players they interviewed, gave the Astros. They were still talking like they had PTSD against Mike Scott. They fully confirmed that they had zero chance in game 7. They were gassed to start the WS because they blew all their energy/emotions on the Astros series. In some ways, similar to how the Astros started the 2019 WS after the dramatic ending against NY...
I have that on my watch list. For me as a baseball whole I watched so much 86 playoff baseball and I felt it ranks as one of if not the greatest sports playoffs. So many great moments. You guys are getting me pumped for today! LET'S GO!!
