I had a buddy in HS who was a nerd turned ‘cool guy’ in college. Tried really hard, had a badass sports car, etc. He would get dates with some really good looking women and always score. Years later, I was talking to a girl who was friends with one of his dates and it turned out he was real high pressure on his dates to have sex, to the point of date rape. I didn’t see it at the time but it made sense in retrospect. I haven’t seen him in decades but he’s done pretty well for himself. Your comment about Ted Cruz reminded me of that guy.
