It's pretty freakin cool to keep up with old classmates I would have never seen again.

Despite all the other stuff, a platform that is hands down the undisputed champion of any in it's class, at the end of the day, Facebook works exactly as it was intended to, keeping up with classmates

Isn't that akin to saying that a gun works exactly as intended - to provide food and for protection. And avoiding all the bad stuff guns do?

It is certainly boomers and Gen Xers, but Social media on Instagram, Twitter, and others is just as much of a problem, when young girls are killing themselves because of internet bullying or not getting enough LIKES, we are a problem.

We need to LEGISLATE these companies and make them responsible for the content posted on their sites.

Misinformation is not the problem. Bullshit existed (and thrived) before the internet and social media. The problem is incentivized negativity (hatred, anger, jealousy, vanity, etc). Social media platforms are super conductors for the worst human behaviors because that's what drives up the engagement numbers and thus revenue.

It is a problem all over the world but in particular free countries.

    I did? Where?

Here is a GREAT documentary about the issue.

IMHO, this is the biggest issue facing people and governments in today's time.

The difference is that algorithmns reinforce the bullshit, and you are put in groups that all believe the bullshit and you no longer have that friend who says....BULLSHIT.......because they have different views and are no longer connected in the backend.

Social Media platforms lack accountability and will ONLY do what generates the most ad revenue - instead of what is morally right......they should be held accountable......

Sort of a ‘no ****’ article but I’m glad it’s gaining mainstream traction. The more people off of social media, the better.

Facebook is no different than land grant colleges or city government; don't get rid of them, just send of some federal troops or agents to the racist, provincial parts every once in a while.

China cloned their own copy of it. That's what they do. Lord forgive if we banned their social media like they do ours...

Boomers, for the most part, are too stupid for the internet. The world will be better when they’re gone.

Apologies to @B-Bob and the other boomers who aren’t morons.

I saw him in a Texas State FB group and tried to poke him.

Apparently pokes don’t exist anymore :(
