I'm not going to take parenting advice from someone on a message board but I'll answer a few of your questions. My children go to private school and they are not required to wear masks

As we should be. 12+, we have some good data. 5-11, we don't have data yet, other than a small set of data out of Israel and Phase 3 trials data from Pfizer/BioTech.

Keep in mind that the comparison we should be making is not between uninfected vs vaccinated, but between infected vs vaccinated. The reason is everyone will eventually be exposed. There is really no such thing as uninfected without vaccination.

Not giving parenting advice. Again, what "mixed information" are you receiving?

And not surprised by the "sending to private schools" and "not requiring masks" answers...

Damn, feel bad for the teachers there, hopefully they stay safe. The school i teach at, the kids are over 90% vaccinated and we have full mask requirements so it feels pretty safe.

anti-vaxxers don't really care about the teachers... or anyone else for that matter. They really don't even care that much about there own kids, certainly not the other kids at the school. They only care about making their political stand. Otherwise they would have kept their kids out when required to take the long list of vaccinations needed to enroll in the school.

My wife taught at a Christian preschool for over 15 years and chose not to go back since they were not requiring the kids to mask and didn't have the physical space to even require proper spacing. She has a mother and stepfather that are in their 90's. And our oldest daughter is high-risk (had open heart surgery when she was 5 days old). Since we are in our 60's the risk to our family was just too great.

I read a few sentences. Took me all of 30 seconds. You obviously can't read since you think I'm an anti-vaxxer. My wife and I are both vaccinated. I'm just not putting it in my children yet.

I'm curious to hear why you're hesitant to get your kids vaccinated. mRNA vaccines introduce blueprints for your body to create the COVID spike protein antigen, which your immune system will produce antibodies against when it comes into contact with the real thing.

There is no true virus introduced, unlike the other vaccinations and J&J, which use safe viruses as the introduction system, the same method used in older vaccinations.

Even with a slight fear of the unknown, the statistical probability of complications from the vaccine are much lower than the effects of real COVID.

Ya we’re pretty fortunate here that most parents/kids are willing to do the right thing, just sad for me as a teacher to hear how little regard some parents have for us. Sad stuff but not surprising.

Why not? Both my kids were vaccinated (one with Moderna, the other J&J). Neither had any issues from the shots (my oldest had open heart surgery at day 5 and is high risk; the youngest attends Sam which unfortunately opened up to in-person classes this year.

Reading between the lines... I'd guess politics.

My wife and I get to decide how we handle our children. As I said before we are both vaccinated. Our children aren't sick and have never tested positive for Covid

Well, to start I hope your son is OK after surgery. If you have a different opinion you're entitled to that

Politics have nothing to do with anything. I don't make any personal decisions based on that. Probably an easy out though for you

Ya but you should at least have the decency to keep them at home if you’re going to refuse the vaccine, not send them to school. I understand you only care about yourself but have at least a shred of decency, it’s embarrassing

Cool. Not worried about your opinion. Agree to disagree
