I hear ya. We may have 4 players that may become problems in this league: Green, KPJ, Sengun and Wood. That's a lot. Simmons doesn't make sense, he hasn't shown in 4 years that he can be a problem with the ball for other teams... And now we need to experiment with him and see if he can "develop"? No, thanks.

Now, the case to be made is this: why not bring a very talented complimentary player, who will actually play and contribute as opposed to having an overpaid assistant coach on the roster (Wall). We have some complimentary pieces: Tate seems to be pretty good piece; Nwaba, Theis, Garuba also have good qualities. Simmons is probably superior to all of them, though. But anything is predicated on him willing to be a garbage man, sit in the dunker spot, make hard cuts and play defense.

There is no indication so far that he is willing to do that. He wants to be the "face"... He's a loooooong way from being the face of anything. Looking up and down the league rosters, I see only two teams that don't already have a player who has already shown more with the ball in his hands than Simmons has in 4 years (Orlando and San Antonio). Fox, Sexton/Garland, KAT/D-Lo/Edwards, SGA, LeVert/Sabonis... These are all players who have shown more top-dog material than Simmons. A team (other than Orl or SA) will have to make a big leap to think that they can get Simmons to be the top guy to take them to the top...

yeah, the guy is 6-11" isn't he? But I know he'll never go for it.

Also, sorry I missed out on something: I am talking strictly about half-court. Simmons is elite with the ball in his hands in transition, nobody is deying him that. I am talking high-leverage situations, playoffs, etc., when the top-dogs eat. Sorry I didn't explain, my bad...

You might be thinking too highly of Rudy Gobert who made the All Star game
    on pure defense.

Here is the highlights of Ben Simmons vs Utah (in Utah) without Embiid:

:38 seconds- fast break at 2 defenders at FT line couldn't handle him

1:00- fast break again vs DOPY at FT line; no contest

2:00- running start vs favors in half court set, no contest

2:18 fast break, splits 3 defenders at FT line

*3:00- half court set, running start, 3 defenders at FT line. This is the play I would
have Simmons do with half of his USG%. What Giannis often does. It would be
money in the Silas system with slashers and back door cuts.

    -------------------------

So one could say Simmons was making a statement vs Utah and the other contender
for DOPY candidate.........but what do people think Simmons is going to do with next team?
He plans on making a statement to the whole league and basketball universe.

yeah man, this video has been circulating a lot, but let me ask you, what kind of a statement is when you lose a game?

In any case, if we are going by a single game, KPJ had 50 and Rockets won, so I don't see a way where Ben takes the ball from KPJ's hands...

Also, Gobert is trash, if a player wants to clown Gobert, that's a low bar.

Also, Jungles Joe, Bogi and the corpse of D.Favors are not good at playing D....

I know the number 1 seed in the West is a joke of a team. But some like to say, "The West,
The West, The West teams are all beasts!!!!"

"The West is going to be killer this year!!!!!"

"The West is no place for the weak at heart!!!!"

    Bunch of blow hards

When it suits their narrative, not so much when it doesn't, case in point your comment

The East has been making progress lately, true.
    However,
    1. Who won the game, buddy?
    2. Jazzholes are a joke and got exposed as such when it mattered, by the Clippers (the most pathetic franchise in history) missing their best player....

You do know what DPOY means right?
    Defensive Player of the Year

Embiid did not play!!!!!! Who was the DPOY guarding? Tobias Harris?

At some point shouldn't the DPOY candidate be guarding another big going for 42?

    One would think?

And if the DPOY couldn't stop him, what chance do half the players in the league have
    when you consider forced switching?

If done right, Simmons could command the gravity of the defense allowing Jalen Green,
Porter Jr, Tate, Kenyon, House, Wood to exploit by way of slashing and back door cuts.
    Also known as Silas system.

Just 3 little words and yet they stretch suspension of disbelief to a micron level. I don't trust Ben to do it right and nothing about his attitude or "development" has reinforced this point at all. Maybe one day he can pull his head out of his ass, but thankfully it seems that it won't be on our team. That is as big a blessing as any.

    Hahaha! Touche!
Seriously though, that's where I'd want him if he would to come-in for Wall. But also, I'd want him to dunk that! That's the spot for him but he should dunk them. that's why he's getting so much flak, he was in the right spot, the play worked, but he fcuked up...

I think the more people that can pass the ball the better your team......you create a situation where the ball is always moving and you end up getting better shots for your shooters.

Wall is a net negative, he is not going to play, Simmons can play SF, PF, and can pass...we aren't winning anyway this year, bring him in, let's see how the team meshes and you can mix and match later.

Better to have a Simmons who can play multiple positions than a Wall who isn't even going to play, IMHO.
