And you would be wrong. Minority Partners do not own enough of the Texans to make Cal McNair do anything. Texans revenues are not going to be down that much because of TV money. The McNairs have never intervened in a GM's plan unless it was to fire them. Caserio has a 6 year contract for a reason.
Cal McNair has an alcohol problem, has been in rehab, and basically has his sponsor serving as the EVP. He’s also never overseen years of financial decline. He can easily be influenced. And we all know once a new coach is hired (Cully isn’t going to be the long term guy), if he’s like most head coach’s who want personnel say, there can be a struggle. As far as “never intervening in a GM’s plan”… I guess you were too young for the BOB-Rick Smith debacle? There’s really only one team that’s had a consistent GM and gone through multiple coaches in the league… and that’s the Dallas Cowboys… and that’s because the owner is the GM. Hell, this off-season, without Casserio, the Patriots made the most moves and spent the most money… because Belichick has basically had the final say there for years. Usually, coach/GM tenures tend to be tied. The Texans trying to go this way is fine, but isn’t impervious to having to be adjusted due to coaching decisions. Also, Texans Karen… these are hypothetical situations. You can lighten up… unless you work for the team, then you need to go back to figuring out how to keep the scotch flowing.
Dumbass. Doesn't matter what Cal's issues are, Janice McNair is the owner. Do you know Culley is not the long term guy? You don't know ****. Pull **** out your ass like it is fact (it is not). Why don't you dig up Bud Adams, Suck him off and maybe he will give you the Oilers name and history.
Why not? You'll be waiting any damn way for a winning record.. Might as well get the other positions right before you get a young QB contaminated with this **** show..
Wow… Texans Karen losing it it’s only week 4 (Janice McNair makes all the decisions, lol…) I meant it when I said this year was going to be a rude ****ing awakening for those who don’t think the Texans can do no wrong. Being a blind homer is worse than being a troll. Being realistic and objective about where this team truly is is the only way.
I don't think the revenue will drop for the Texans considering the insane money from the TV deals. But the empty seats will get to Cal no matter how tone deaf and arrogant this organization is when it comes to their fans.
I expect actual attendance, overall merchandise sales, and TV/radio ratings to be near an all-time low. All of that does tie into revenue and eventual franchise valuations. Certainly all of that is reversible if/when the team is decent again... but will be interesting to see if the franchise shows any potential front office business adjustments. Money has been the one thing that has always been consistent and in some ways may have led to complacency when there shouldn't have been.
Damn bro. This mad at a fellow fan? Did u invest your retirement in a Texans apparel ponzi scheme or something? Just not worth the venom. And I say that as a former coach of the team. I never let it get to me TBH. EDIT: Here's something that works for me, and maybe you could try it with posters who pester you. Just remind them of how many division titles we won! Or that you're just interested in seeing improvement week to week, more than you are obsessed with any single game.
They just need 4 consecutive drafts where they get players the quality of Munchak, Matthews, Steinkuhler and Childress.
What's interesting is that Jeff Driskel was the top rated QB coming out of HS in 2011 as well. Texans have two elite HS QB prospects on the team.
And he’s also one of the fastest QBs in the league, that’s what a lot of posters want right? Just goes to show that actual QB play within the pocket will always be the most important part of a QB prospect
good post but you are acting like elvis hadn't left the building a long long time ago.. #nuclearwinter
Complacency has been the theme from day 1 with this team.. This team has literally never tried and this season is like a real life forfeit. 40 to 0 in nfl reminds me of tecmo bowl when I used to go with Walter Payton. This is sillly
