What would be the minimum Carlos would take per year at 10 years (or whatever length is required to keep him here)?

Is he looking for $30 million per year?

I love me some Zach .

the worry about him specifically with the white Sox I get tho .

if we make it through he will be way more valuable to us in a 7 game series .

Opener is a good idea . But , the 2 starters he compliments best imo are lance and framber ... and those 2 should get to start the game however they like . Maybe if Urquidy ticks his stuff FB up a notch out of the pen for 3-4 innings it’s ok .

I didn’t watch his outing too closely today . I’m not sure that it would even be indicative of how he would perform in a playoff game another 4 days out .

He is a true pitching genius and along with strom and the fact that he still has good control most of the time ... to me , means that he can put together a good plan to get outs ... it’s just he can only get so many outs before his limitations kick in

Uh.... no... he had the title well in hand. He could have gone 0-5 and still won it.

Carlos is probably looking for 10 years, 30+.

I think the most I could imagine the Astros offering is 8 years in the 240-250 range, but honestly that is probably not likely. Carlos would probably want an opt out after a few years for anything under 10 years.

This is the only season he deserved to, and the guys picked instead were all defensible (or better) choices.

He turned down 6/120 and then 5/125. He isn't looking for $300 million at all and won't get it from any other team.

If the Astros could offer 8 years $200 I think he stays.

we should have offered 200-8 at the beginning of the season .

    I think he’s looking at 200+

I really really want to keep him. I just hope the best offer isn’t completely out of our ability to come close to .

Methinks you're underestimating Carlos' ambitions. He sees Lindor's 10-330 as his minimum, he's better than Francisco and entering FA a year younger. He won't be the first 500 million player as he was expected back in 2015, but someone offering 12-420 wouldn't shock me a bit.

I'm okay with the low offers. Correa was wanting to test free agency anyhow. This way other teams don't have a high value to start and if the Astros come back with an 8/200 offer or maybe even 8/215 then that looks like a significant jump.

im just not sure . Maybe if the league $ flow was as good as normal , but then the Covid season hit . Some of those big money players did not perform as well this year .

I think around the league , wallets are tightening . Near a lockout too ? Correct ?

only a few big fish teams can give him 10-300+

still , the city of Houston has supported the Astros and if the Texans would just die it would be even better . Anyways , I think we can go up to 1/4 of a Bil for him . 300 + is just out of our reach .

his ambitions may be that high . But I don’t
    Know how realistic they are

This is the year to hand out big deals, Inflation doesn't look like it will stop any time soon, the owners expect to be paying these old contracts at a discount rate by 2025+ when 45 million in 2028 is worth 30 million in today's money. A looming lockout may happen, but the old washed up bums that make up the MLBPA will agree on restricting free agency further so they can get more money.

Correa will end up on a non-playoff team but at least he’ll be extremely wealthy.
