    yeah, fair, fair.
I don’t have a beef with you, my beef is with the junk-science "community". I wasn’t dismissive towards you, I was dismissive towards the metrics you brought up. So, please don’t take it personally.
The point is these are useless metrics, they don’t provide any useful insight on player value or on how to win in this league. They either confirm what a plain-eye test can tell you, or if they are in disagreement with the eye-test, the eye-test is invariably the correct call.

That’s fine. I’ll just say that the people advocating for Ben Simmons to be a Rocket and the team’s Lord and Savior are delusional because he’s not an Alpha…maybe not even a Beta..

Would I be mad if we somehow got him for Wall and two picks? Absolutely not because that’s great value. But trading more than that? That’s where I see the return in value tipping away from us.

Ben Simmons liked a tweet detailing how much money he would lose by holding out.

It's getting weirder by the minute.

It IS very, very weird. So somebody leaked to Wndhorst that this was ‘war’… What kind of war is it where you are literally giving your money to the enemy???
If Simmons were to show up and just go through the motions, it would be much more destructive. They would have to be paying a guy to just be a poison at team activities… I don’t get Paul’s strategy at all…

I think Windhorst is being a bit of a blowhard here (actually, more than a bit), because the "gauntlet" was thrown down by Simmons when Ben and his agent decided that he wouldn't report to camp. This is a 25 year old All Star getting the max and refusing to report to his team to prepare for the season. I don't blame the Sixers a bit for imposing a cost on that behavior.

It's also bizarre, in my opinion, that the agent of Simmons is advising him to exhibit this behavior. It doesn't exactly make him the most attractive player to trade for, putting aside the talent he has. How a player behaves in a team setting and towards an organization has to impact how other organizations view obtaining that player, and not in a good way, in my opinion.

hmmm seems like I’ve read this book before?

he’s really hurt Morey’s position. You’re wasting Embid’s prime. He needs talent that can win now. Brooks, House, Wall for Simmons. Seems fair to me.

The teams that want Ben aren't concerned about how this break up looks at this point. If anything, a little uglier ..a little more drawn out means perhaps paying less.

Ben will get his money back from wherever he goes.

The thing is, if the team is going to pay Ben back, then the price they are willing to pay to get him will be lower.

No matter how it is sliced, what he's doing is trashing his trade value. Philly is going to lose this war. But when Ben's contract is up, I doubt that anybody will give him another max contract, unless he drastically improve his game before his contract expires. But maybe he doesn't care. he has already made enough money for him to be a socialite, whatever that is. LOL.

Let's not forget Philly directed him not to play in the Olympics and stay and work on his jumpshot, they made him the scapegoat - Morey has done that before as well, bad mouthing players in the media......remember DMo and his bad back?

So, I don't blame him for saying **** OFF to the franchise for them blaming him for all their decisions etc.

And knowing what we know now, the Rockets would need a lot more from the 76ers - like they’d have to take on John Wall and/or Eric Gordon’s contracts as well

That other "disgruntled star" was an legitimate superstar with a much longer career packed with accomplishments. The only thing they share, in my opinion, is that one forced his way off the Rockets, and Simmons is attempting to force his way off of the Sixers. When Harden left the Rockets, he possessed a "gravity" as a player that Simmons can only dream of having someday. He had given the Rockets many years of record setting offensive play, including being the league's MVP, an honor he should have received more than once, in my opinion. He was also a terrific point guard, when called upon to play that role.

I didn't like how James Harden left the Rockets, but he earned my respect as a player, and continues to have it. I don't know what to think of Simmons, other than believing him to be a talented and confused young man who listens far too much to his agent.

Meh they shared the same playoff successes. Look I think Simmons is a good gamble if you can get him at a good price. Wall plus vets. Not keen on giving picks (maybe 1). We can wait on him to recover. Our championship window isn’t yet open. Philly on the other hand is really under some pressure here.

Simmons doesn't possess anything even approaching Harden's career. Not yet. I'll add that they are vastly different players, with individual strengths almost a mirror opposite of each other.

I continue to be surprised that Simmons and his agent have taken this route. I'm not surprised that he would like a fresh start with a new team, given how the playoffs ended for Philadelphia, and especially for Simmons, but the way he and his agent are going about accomplishing that appears to be awash with ego and guaranteed to reduce the value of Simmons in a deal, in my opinion. Had he quietly made it clear that he wanted to be dealt, while making an effort to appear to be a "team player" for the media, and not the problem child he appears to be now, it would have made moving him a great deal easier.

What a mess. Morey's trade demands aren't being realistic, either, especially now.
