Nope. I refuse to believe Oakland's last 13 games equal getting swept by Seattle all 7 and sweeping the Astros all 6. Also refuse to believe that the White Sox magically win their last 7 games of the season while we go 2-8 in our last 10. Stros will have home field first round, but their offense doesn't look good right now.
Astros are 29-27 since July 30th. Good news is the Astros made it 1 game from the WS last year with a worse record. Bad news is... that sucks
The Astros have moved away from moving the line with hits and walks to waiting for the bombs. It's as simple as overswinging by anticipating a pitch rather than reacting to the pitch. I've noticed several times when a player takes a good pitch to hit and doesn't swing at where the ball is until the next pitch which is out of the zone. But the swing was perfect for the LAST PITCH. Umpires no longer respect the Astros reputation for knowing the zone and no longer give them the benefit of the doubt. But as much as we fuss about leaving men on base, it's better than not having men on base. Last night at least gave us something new to fuss about. Dusty's management, of course, being a constant. I have to give him credit for using the bench last night instead of stubbornly leaving in the 0 fer hitters. It was also a good example of how a catcher can cost you runs as well as help you score. If I could combine Castro's hitting and Maldonado's receiving and management, we'd have our STAR receiver. But alas, we have to choose between them.
100% POFF. You see this sign on a bathroom wall at Minute Maid, you walk away. Go home and feed the cat.
I get it. You're a fantasy GURU. Learn about Walter Mitty. https://www.enotes.com/homework-help/what-characteristics-secret-life-walter-mitty-22219
Thank god the A’s are not in the playoffs and we don’t have to face them cause they got our number like the SuperSonics have the rockets number in the 90s lol.
Yeah... good thing when the Astros went 2-7 against Oakland last year they didn't have to play them in the playoffs.... Oh, wait...
The offense without most of the starters showed some life last night even if it didn’t lead to as many runs as it could have. The Astros will need guys like McCormick, Meyers, and Díaz in the playoffs. Correa and Tucker also had solid games at the plate. I appreciate how important Marwin was in 2017, but it’s not 2017. I still don’t know that the signed him - if it’s off the field stuff if hasn’t helped and it’s not going to help resign Correa. I’d be happier if we didn’t see him in another game for the Astros. I think it was pretty clear Marwin shouldn’t be on the playoff roster already, but I have no other real problems with the lineup last night. Figuring out the playoff roster and getting the guys who haven’t been playing as much some more at bats is probably worth more than small impact losing this game could have in home field. Home field isn’t worth that much and the Astros will likely still wind up having it against the Sox.
Most of us who are "concerned" about last night's line-up would have no problem with it AFTER the second seed was secure.
I get that. I just think second seed vs third seed isn’t a huge deal and they are still likely to wind up with the second seed either way.
