My worst fear is Jalen Green turning into J.R. Smith 2.0

It would’ve shown in summer league. He could’ve made every game about him. During the pistons game he said in the postgame that he didnt want it about him vs the pistons FRp on the court, he wanted it his team vs their team: jr Smith wouldn’t have cared.

I'm not gonna judge someone based on how they look. I will say in some of the IG stuff he has done, he has seemed a bit strange IMO. Before people go crazy, I know it is probably because I am old and don't understand young people, and it isn't about his tattoos, or race or anything like that. I just get concerned when people act somewhat full of themselves, to the point where it looks like they don't understand the gravity of the situation they are in.

 

Seriously, some people need to reassess their perspective on fear.

Lmfao! What does tatoos have to do with anything. I've been tatted up since 16. There are tons of kids in highschool with tattoos and even people in wall street have tatoos. It isn't the 80's where the cool rebel has a tattoo anymore. Everyone has a tattoo.

 

He doesn't come across as super mature when he's relaxing and being himself. Basically like everyone else on this planet--young and old.

And he's got every reason to be happy, goofy, and/or cocky.

As an old guy myself, though, I get what you're saying. I'm finding it harder and harder these days to relate to young people.

 

I'd be more concerned about our defense going forward but since we're tanking it's actually more beneficial to us if we can't guard anyone.

 

My biggest fear is finding out about the very large discrepancy between people's basketball opinions and their political(or health lmao) ones.

That said, I think it’s reasonable to fear that Jalen becomes just like J.R. as a player, I.e, prolific athlete and scorer but not much else. Smith was never really known for his defense and playmaking…and at the end of the day was a slightly above average scoring guard. If that’s what Green becomes, then yes we may have problems. I followed Smith’s upbringing and his story is very interesting…I do not endorse any of the rest of OP’s post, but fearing that he just becomes a middling scoring guard is legitimate IMO. Hopefully he grows other facets of his game, and is a better scorer than JR…time will tell.

 

The amount of hate this kid gets without even a single RS game is insane
