every time I’ve seen or heard about this dude, he was saying something dumb or people were talking about some dumb thing he said he was on TV acting like an attention w****
https://www.houstonchronicle.com/texas-sports-nation/rockets/article/Ryan-Hollins-to-become-Rockets-TV-analyst-16500664.php “I mean, when opportunities come up like this, you don’t pass them by,” Hollins said. “When my name was just first mentioned, I can’t tell you how humbled I was just to be mentioned in such respects. I’m just thankful the opportunity has come my way. I’d like to say, God’s great. I don’t think I’m deserving for something this cool. Just an amazing opportunity. “I’m still kind of pinching myself. I wasn’t the kid with the NBA dad, the pedigree from the eighth grade. I played 10 years in the NBA. I get to be around the NBA in broadcasting. I get to essentially be one of the voices of the Houston Rockets.”
We had an opening. Vernon Maxwell wanted to fill it. Fans wanted Vernon to fill it. This was not hard.
I think he can be good but it is odd because usually the color guy has SOMETHING to do with the history of the team or at least played for the team. This dude ain't even been a rocket for 1 second... So that is pretty interesting...
To be fair the entire goal of these shows is to act like SAS, say the most outrageous things for clicks and views. Hopefully he’s a solid gameplay commentator, night in and night out.
Having Vernon would be fantastic.. but maybe he couldnt pass the No Cursing test lol. I thought it would be Franchise as well. I used to laugh at Hollin's take during his appearance in First Take. But now I hope he can surprise us all in a positive sense.
I generally think a local broadcast team should be with people who have ties to the city or the team. Hollins is fine on tv, but this isn't exactly exciting. What exactly is Mario's role?
