...I'll argue that Dusty Baker is essentially the baseball version of George Karl. I don't even have him at Doc Rivers level of choke because Doc at least has a ring. Only got pass the first round of the playoffs once with Kent/Bonds. Dusty squandered the prime and health years of Kerry Wood/Mark Prior. Nationals had to fire him to win a chip. Yet, highly respected and sought after.

If we are one and out, or even fail to make the playoffs, this would be worse than Sonics blowing it against the Nuggets but not as bad as losing with NBA players in international play.

He's more of a Scottie Brooks?

Baker has one NL pennant in 24 years of managing.
Brooks has one Western conference champion in 12 year of coaching.

    Baker rode Bonds and Kent.
Brooks rode Durant, Westbrook and Harden.

Agreed…. Dusty just lacks that feel for the game or timing to make a critical move!

For some reason Dusty’s teams always choke or come up short. Yet he keeps getting hired to be at the helm of highly talented teams….

I think he just lacks the instinct that makes managers great. Hinch had it, and the Astros let him go…. I’m glad he’s doing well in Detroit, the guy inspires his players.

George Karl was a better coach than Doc, I don't care about him having 1 ring with a loaded roster.

I think Doc is a pretty spot on comparison. A guy that has been put in a lot of good situations but hasn't done much with it. Dusty could still fall ass backwards into a world series with this team, but it doesn't mean he knows what the hell he is doing.

No way! This is an insult to Adelman. Adelman was a great coach and a thing of beauty with his system! He actually ran a system but was unlucky! On the other hand dusty seems clueless at times and very slow to react in game decisions

93 wins and a division title with the overwhelming amount of injuries (I counted 27 DL Stints and stopped counting from the July transactions) is far more impressive than ya’ll are giving Dusty credit for.

    Dusty Baker = Doc Rivers

Personality wise, very snappy on reporters

Both don't have good Playoff Records

Doc has 1 Championship because of 3 Hall of Famers and Rondo

Dusty has 1 World Series Appearance and Lost

Overused Kerry Wood and Mark Prior because of worst Bullpen of All Time.

I think the Cubs GM and Owner deserve most of the Blame instead of Dusty. Not Acquiring more Bullpen Help.

Is there an NBA head coach that won a title and then retired? If so, I hope that's Dusty's equivalent in about 5 weeks.

This is a great call. Lenny and Dusty both have a ring, Dusty as a player, Lenny as a coach.

    Dusty = Sloan

Two decades plus --> two appearances in the championship series and flopped both times.

I'm not dumb enough to manage talented pros. But I am dumb enough to complain about dumb moves made by folks dumb enough to manage talented pros.
