Democrats should have had all of this ready to go once the covid bill was passed. Instead they ****ed around like all politicians do, waited until the last minute, and now it's about to bite them in their asses. This 3.5 trillion dollar bill is far too much in the first place along with the 1 trillion passed by the Senate it's just ridiculous.
America can't have better social programs, we can't keep lowering poverty, we can't have a job surplus creating an increase in wages, we as a people need to feel the boot on our necks in order to work hard. Revealing take, this dude is not for the working class.
Like literally who cares about his "why," His position in a policy sense is just whatever is contrary. Manichin and Sinema aren't negotiating in good faith at this point so eventually you just have to call their bluff and walk away. Manny wants to be seen as a deal maker. Make it then. I still think both bills are important but you have to let them take the heat for killing the process
It’s 350 billion per year, which is way less than our annual Pentagon budget. And that’s the gross number - when you factor in the tax revenues and other revenues, the net number is much lower. So why is $3.5 billion over 10 years too much to invest in ways that will improve the lives of all Americans? This is exactly what we should be spending our money on and in the grand scheme of things, it’s not even that much.
This lying piece of **** should be expelled from the Democratic Party. Let him try getting re-elected as a Republican - they’ll have someone much crazier to replace him who at least won’t pretend to care about his/her constituents.
Coincidentally West Virginia keeps tumbling down the state rankings.... The man is a fool, and along with the Progressives, they may end up tripping over their d*cks. Nothing is far worse than something.
The issue is lack of cohesion and terrible messaging. You're not wrong, but $3.5 trillion was never going to happen with the razor thin margins they have in Congress. IMO, Dems should just do an additional climate related, hard infrastructure bill and save everything for the midterm campaigning.
Get it down to around 2 trillion and call it a day, that with the 1 trillion infrastructure is more than enough. A lot of things in the proposed bill aren't needed. The real question is what in the hell have the democrats been doing the past 6 months after the covid bill was passed? It takes months with different committees coordinating to make a reconciliation bill happen. Why the **** did they wait so long AND think the GOP would help them in any way?
As much as I know he is corrupt I also realize the democrats wouldn't have a majority without him and this conversation would therefore be moot.
I disagree about the "needed" part, but I do think it's way too ambitious given the situation they are in. Like I said above, do additional climate related hard infrastructure (hardening coasts, reservoirs, electric grid, etc) and save the rest for the Midterm campaign trail. Progressives need to win seats in Congress if they want more of their ideas put into place instead of their ideas just polling well.
In theory they have a majority - in practice, due to this shitbag, Sinema and probably a few others who are too cowardly to go public with their BS, the Democrats don’t have anything. I think the Democrats should call some bluffs here - raise the amount in the reconciliation bill by 5 billion each day the Republicans refuse to cooperate on the debt limit. If the amount in the bill is too high for Manchin and Sinema, cut all amounts that would go to their states. Then cut other funding to their states every day they continue this charade. Then have the DNC cut all funding to them for the next election. LBJ would never have tolerated these kind of antics and outright public undermining, and anyone who tried would have been handled harshly. I wish the current leadership had the same backbone. The damndest thing is that no strong arming should even be necessary. Both the infrastructure and the reconciliation bill are packed with legislation that is EXTREMELY popular with American voters. That alone should give reason to pass them both as is.
I agree, but you have to make changes to the tax code in addition to whatever climate related legislation you're trying to pass to offset the cost. They don't need a default on the US debt right now but I don't know if they are taking the GOP thread as seriously as they should. Again, this proposed bill should have been in the works after the covid bill was passed. All politicians are just that, politicians and rather stay in power than do good for the people they represent. Thanks to Citizens' United for allowing unlimited money into politics...
Schumer is no McConnell or even Harry Reid, we need a strong leader at the helm and he isn't that in the Senate. The turtle would call his bluff and **** this country over for perceived power, I don't doubt that. Old school democrats like LBJ wouldn't even recognize the current democratic party so I'm not sure what else to say about that one.
No, that's because Trump convinced America conservatives weren't behind NAFTA and offshoring with their business friendly policies. I'll never argue against the Dems being terrible at messaging.
LOL...bitcoin is a risk more so than inflation...keep drinking the koolaid Jim Jones, errr Trump loyalist.
Taking L's is your business... Yes—As of July 1, President Joe Biden has had seven judges confirmed, which is more than any president in last 50 years confirmed at this point in their presidency. President Trump had only two judges confirmed by July 1 of his first year in office. https://www.uscourts.gov/judges-judgeships/judicial-vacancies/confirmation-listing If we get nothing else done in the next year keep confirming solid liberal judges.
Unfortunately yall will get a lot done with the Senate and House for the next year. Still curious if this zero dollar plan gets through.
