Devin Booker Bradley Beal Donovan Mitchell Westbrook Jimmy Butler and Middleton (excluding defense, offense only) Yes his numbers compare to all star guards in their second season. Lower tier allstar. Not historical greats and efficiency phenoms lol Fringe Allstars like Ingram, Harris and Dlo also help his case. My point being he was not “bad” in his second season.
He was making the transition to PG -- was it really expected that he would be an 'all star' uber efficient player? Some guys just dont want to like him and that is a perfectly fine opinion and feeling to have the kid has made some mistakes, but I root for underdogs and I root for them even harder when they are on my team - and I cant wait for Scooter to prove all of the doubters wrong. Get those "Glad I was wrong" posts ready. Its an easy cop out to all of the hyper criticism.
Think of the best pg all time in your opinion. He will be 10 times better than that player as his floor.
Right on, VC! He's played all of, what 26 games out top...in a crowded situation with Wall/Oladipo...no Wood....and, at a position that takes the longest to get down.
"Compare" is loosely.... Mitchell, Booker, and Westbrook were already +20 PPG scorers in their second year. And Jimmy Butler??? You just pulling up random names..... He averaged 8PPG in his second season. Middleton is a wing.... who averged 12PPG.
Just a general opinion of the current convo. If Scooter shines everybody wins. Why hope or expect for calamity or failure? Why put him under the microscope after 26 games? Kid is doing everything right HERE, but for some reason guys are just waiting for him to implode. Just a poor way to support him and the team IMO, but hey do you. Half cup empty guys have the right to express themselves too. I respect your opinion and everyone else who has shot Scooter down at every turn. I hope he changes your mind. Be well.
I'm just wondering who said he had to be an uber efficient all star and who doesn't want to like him. I haven't come across those people, at least not here.
KPJ back issues will ultimately decided how good he is. We will see if it holds up for the long term.
And what did their efficiency look like? How was their defense and turnovers? Nobody is comparing flat ppg numbers. KP numbers were better than second season Butler and Middleton who ended up allstars.. that’s literally proving my point. Did you read the conversation? Also KP averaged 18 and 6.5 assists as a starter. 18 ppg and 20 ppg is comparable.
I haven't seen anyone hoping for a calamity or failure, nor have I seen anyone saying they want to see him implode. Supporting the team means wanting the best for the team; it does not mean always thinking that what the team is currently doing is the best thing that can be done, nor does it mean overhyping our roster, coach, or FO. I also hope KPJ changes my mind by playing better this year, as I have said multiple times in this thread. Him being a core guy who can bring Ws to the Rockets is the best case scenario.
So much doom and gloom my dude! Need to inject some good vibes into this season! Get beyond the surface level - lets connect with these guys and be the best fans for them we can be instead of tearing them down. We have a good thing going here - I can feel it!
You set the comparison here, no? Then So then offensively, KPJ is near the bottom of that list? Devin Booker Bradley Beal Donovan Mitchell Westbrook We can compare Butler but he was more of a defensive guard in his early years before vastly improving. And Middleton is a wing. Do you want to change the parameters? @Haymitch did the hard part with the calculations.
Not here to defend a particular side but to offer up some things to seriously consider when comparing per game numbers between players. KPJ last season 32.1 minutes per game 25.4% usage 5.9 minutes per game with the ball Middleton Year 2 30.0 minutes per game 19.1% usage 1.6 minutes per game with the ball
But is the KPJ and Middleton comparison a good one? They play different roles and it seems we are only looking at offensively, which would favor KPJ's numbers.
KPJ and Ja Morant.... Similar counting stats.... but looking at the advanced stats you have over two seasons 0.3WS vs 7WS. Is that completely fair to KPJ, no because the team quality is different but it is telling.
