They keep talking about Brantley competing for the batting title. He needs 9 more plate appearances to do so.
I think they were saying he should be back by the end of the series. He only needs 2-3 games for 9 plate appearances.
Right... but I assume if they clinch the division and home field, they will be wary of playing him too much. Yuli needs to go 5-5 tomorrow and make it moot.
Castro as a pinch hitter - .389/.500/.667/1.167 22 PAs, 18 ABs, 4 walks, 4 singles, 2 doubles, 1 HR, 5 RBI
Blum and Kalas have talked about it, but Castro's late, clutch hitting has to be through the roof. Until last night unfortunately, it seemed like every late, clutch hit was a solo home run when trailing by 2. What a W.
Man, just checked and realized the Mariners won again... is that 11 in a row against the A's? What an annoying, POS, team.
Whelp. back to back walks to tie and win.....I'll take it. At least those weren't awful calls compared to what happened earlier in the game against Diaz and Bregman(?)....I got distracted and stopped watching around the 5th till the 9th. Glad they turned that game around with that Bregman bomb to begin it. The fans were crazy loud when they finally had something to cheer for, playoff like.
What a crucial freaking win. The McCormick and Castro walks were both on 3-2 counts, talk about big boy at bats, and they didn't chase. Taking those pitches was just a clutch as a hit in that situation. I can see the Mariners winning out with the way they own the A's and the Angels having zero to play for. We have to take one more damn game.
Those were great at-bats in pressure situations. It wasn’t like Chargois just broke down and was throwing wild pitches. Both had 3-2 counts. Very impressed with McCormick’s patience. Castro has been a good pinch-hitter all season.
