What kind of Mickey Mouse organization is this? Sideline-to-sideline? The game is played full court people. Hell, even back in Jr High when my legs were short and I had a bunch of baby fat we ran full court lines. This coddling approach will not build the character this team needs.

First time HC, seems rather natural to cling to a veteran. If he treats Wall well, then Wall will treat him well and others will be more inclined to listen because the veteran and “leader” of the team is listening to him (Silas). Like a new manager kind of informally choosing an old, veteran employee to be the spokesman for other employees. Plus we weren’t going anywhere last year, the last thing Silas wanted to do with lose control of the highest paid player on the team.

    makes sense to me.

    #Steve #SteveSilas
(Astros got an “Uncle Mike”. Rockets now got an “Uncle Dave”. LOVE IT!)

GALVESTON — A day after Rockets guard Kevin Porter Jr. said the Rockets “organization saved my life, potentially,” Rockets coach Stephen Silas said little could be more significant than developing such an important relationship with players.

“It means everything,” Silas said. “That’s why you coach. For the stories, for the guys who maybe aren’t given a shot or feel like they are not able to have the opportunity they deserve. Hopefully, I can put … him in a position where he can be as successful as he can possibly be, whatever it is.

“There’s a lot more to him than basketball. There’s a lot more … with all the guys than basketball. Spending time together with someone is important, having conversations outside of basketball is important for everybody to feel good ab out being a Rocket. It starts with the relationships that you have with each individual guy. It’s great to hear that.

“Along with that comes relationship stuff where you have ups and downs but you always know you are together.”

“Steve’s always been like that,” Rockets guard D.J. Augustin said of Silas. “I was with Steve in Charlotte when he was an assistant. He’s always been a great people person. Some coaches, they’re not good with communicating with players off the court. Steve is that guy who has the ability to kind of connect with players, especially with younger guys.”

Sure, but the vet and franchise player was Harden. Not Wall.

Silas went out of his way to embrace Wall while giving Harden space.

Same thing happened while both were on the court.

Wall started taking the most shots and dominating ball.

This piece and the documentary were great feel good pieces but I'd like to see the actual X's and O's stuff too.

Give us some deeper insight into his basketball philosophies and strategies.

Yeah, this was irritating to watch last year. Sacrificing Harden's game in order to allow Wall to fit in. WTF lol. Harden is a team player, so he went along with it, but it clearly was not going to work.

We get it, Wall is to be wrapped in teflon until trade is made.

Okay, I wasn’t considering the 8 Harden games. I don’t remember him being unreasonably deferential to Wall during those 8 games.

Silas more than likely leans into Don Nelson's version of small ball instead of Mike D'Antoni's IMO.

I still find it wierd that Hornacek i
1st, 2nd and 3rd strings? Seems about right. So many players that are interchangeable. Going to be fun to watch!
