Just don’t pay him, like they did with Duane Brown when he sat out the first six games of the 2017 season.
If he is refusing to play should the Texans still have to pay him? If it’s mutual or the Texans want to sit him to avoid drama or injury it makes sense to keep paying him.
I think it's mutual, the Texans don't want to play a rapist and the rapist is still upset that he's not the GM and that his buddy Bill O'Brian got fired.
Come on now. I know you better than this, or maybe not. He didn't rape anybody. Some inappropriate things, but not rape. Anyway, I knew they should have done the deal when he first asked for a trade. We wouldn't be in this b.s. predicament
He's alleged to have committed forcible sexual acts.... rape. When they say "sexual assault", you realize that's another way of saying rape, right? I prefer the rapist not be allowed to play as to trading him to a team that supports rapists.
It is mutual. Since Watson doesn't want to play for the Texans, the Texans are not forcing the issue to keep his trade value high in the future (after the legal stuff...ofcourse).
Watson is showing up so he can get paid. He’s not refusing to play per se. But the Texans also don’t want to risk him getting injured and impact any possible future trade. Thus, yes… its mutual. The Texans are paying $10 million this year for the option to trade him when the market is better for him. It’s the right thing to do.
Other than losing out on $10 million dollars of salary that likely wouldn’t make them that much better if applied elsewhere, what is the predicament?
There’s so many teams that are going to be looking for a qb in the offseason. Just be patient. Giants, Steelers, WFT, falcons, browns, lions, dolphins, Vikings, eagles, Broncos, saints. None of the rookie qbs have looked good, so you can add the bears, jets, Patriots, and even the Jaguars to the list of teams that need a qb.
Browns? Giants? I doubt it. None of the teams with a rookie at qb are going to trade for Watson. Will Watson waive his no trade for some of those other teams? Are those other teams have a Watson away from winning now? If not why would they give up cap space and significant draft capital for him. People on this board are going to be severely disappointed with the return the Texans get for Watson. If the Texans can get 2 1’s, 2 2’s and a starting caliber player they should jump on it and be done with it.
Because very few people really care when famous rich athletes sexually assault women. Hell, sometimes they don't even care when they murder them. Those 22 women can't play QB, so they don't matter.
I think the wise thing to do is WAIT until the off season. By then I'm sure you will know the status of the criminal charges. That's the key. If there are none, the Texans should demand a BOAT LOAD for Watson. If there are, it's not going to be rape, sexual assault are anything major. I think it'll be a case where he gets Probation. However, for the Texans to hold on to Watson this long, they know something.
