He is decisive and controlled off the bounce, able to dance past opposing centers who attempt to stay with him on the perimeter. Sag too far, and he can bury a triple from atop the key. Wood still isn’t an impact defender and he’ll never be confused with a facilitating forward. Yet the offensive talent is too great to ignore. — MS 65. Jusuf Nurkić, Portland Trail Blazers (44) 64. Norman Powell, Portland Trail Blazers (NR) 99. Danilo Gallinari, Atlanta Hawks (85) 98. Steven Adams, Memphis Grizzlies (70) 97. Will Barton, Denver Nuggets (NR) 96. Jalen Green, Houston Rockets (NR) One thing to watch for: Given his immense talent and opportunity on a young Rockets team, expect Jalen Green to lead all rookies in scoring and make a strong case for Rookie of the Year, similarly to Anthony Edwards a season ago. Keep an eye on how quickly the explosive 6-foot-6 guard is able to impact winning on both ends, along with his efficiency. Circle Nov. 10th on your calendar, as Green and the Rockets will go head-to-head with No. 1 overall pick Cade Cunningham and the Pistons. Green has long considered himself the top prospect in his age group, and this matchup gives him another chance to make his case that he's the best rookie in the NBA. -- Mike Schmitz 95. John Wall, Houston Rockets (81) One big question: Can the Rockets work with Wall's agent Rich Paul to find a new home this season for the veteran point guard? Wall's supermax contract, which has $91.7 million remaining over the next two seasons, certainly complicates matters. All parties agree that he isn't a fit with the rebuilding Rockets, who are putting Wall on ice and prioritizing the development of their young backcourt of Kevin Porter Jr. and rookie Jalen Green. -- MacMahon 84. Christian Wood, Houston Rockets (55) Swing skill: Wood, whose breakout season with the Rockets was interrupted by ankle sprains, is one of the NBA's most versatile bigs in the pick-and-roll. He's a threat to pop or roll, making it difficult for defenses to settle into coverage schemes, averaging 1.18 points per possession after screening for a ballhandler last season. The rapport Wood builds with young guards Kevin Porter Jr. and Jalen Green will be critical for the Rockets' present and future. -- MacMahon 59. Collin Sexton, Cleveland Cavaliers (NR) 58. As usual, Westbrook is ranked waaaaaaay too favorably. ESPN having Wall as a top 80ish guy is also pretty questionable. Ranking Green in the top 100 before playing a single game is pretty bold. Pretty fair ranking and write ups on CW.

ESPN at it again with another troll list What possible argument could Dame have of being a better player than Harden??
Agreed. Just my opinion. Only Tier 1 is in a specific order. Tier 1 ( The two guys who I think have the best chance to have the most impact) 1A : Durant 1B : Giannis Tier 2A ( The consistent, proven and still amazing high, high impact yearly top 10 MVP candidates) James Curry Harden Tier 2B ( The guys who could be bumped up with more sample of top 10 MVP level play and/or better health) Luka Embiid Jokic Davis Leonard Tier 3 (Guys who will have a season here or there that is top 10 MVP level but not every year) Lillard Paul PG Etc..
Looks like Buddy is 79 on SI and 51 on ESPN and Gordon isn't even on the snub list of either. Wall is lower on both lists as well. Nice to see unbiased perspective @RudyTBag
I think there is a high chance that this year Lebron will no longer be considered a top 5 player. More top 20 or so maybe 15.
Eric Gordon is too injury prone and too atrocious offensively to be considered better than Buddy Hield at this point…EG has pretty much been a joke on the court since about 2019
How come you have durant over harden?? durant cant do nothing when not on stacked teams, cant carry in regular season, and cant stay healthy....
Here is a guy who is better than both of them, because he actually does it without a super star team... Should be number 1 in the world on any ones list....

I agree, he might not be the overall better player than Durant is currently (Durant's defense is better than his offense) but probably deserves the title after the year he had. It's close though between those two...
He was the healthiest of the big 3 in the playoffs and was literally an inch away from beating the eventual champs in the EC Semis. No doubt in my mind that a Nets team with just KD would have beaten the Hawks, if they got there. Bucks just had too good of an overall team. It's very hard to argue that Kevin Durant isn't the best basketball player in the world, right now.
One of the worst top 10 list I have ever seen lebron is gonna be 40 years old and somehow remain the highest rated player nba 2k and still seen as a top 3 player in the league when he is past his prime
It's absolutely amazing how much James Harden has done and how consistently relevant to the playoffs he's been for a decade and ESPN's still here going "but Dame can be the best player on an 8-seed AND sometimes hit 35-footers, sounds better to me!"
