They've been desperate for pitchers for 3 months now, I hope he works out and beats the hell out of the Dodgers.

For a team that’s acquired Snell, Darvish, Clevinger, and Musgrove… in addition to a top 5 Cy Young finisher (Lamet) … it’s surprising they’ve struggled there

They went all-in with the small budget.

Not sure it's worked out yet, but I'm rooting for them.

Abraham Toro's OPS with Seattle now at .761, struggling pretty bad in September. I've always thought, and still do, that he's gonna be a useful player but people fearing we gave up a superstar after that first week can chill.

Likewise Myles Straw's numbers are coming right back to where they were with us, BABIP still a little high in Cleveland even for his speed. He's a guy that does a decent job of getting on base and not a lot else. For a team looking to save money above all else like Cleveland he's a great option in CF. For a team like us trying to max out it was probably smart to try other upside options.

Tony Kemp still having a really good year overall with a .781 OPS (.379 OBP). Oakland has been playing him at his 2 natural positions LF and 2B so he plays solid defense, but those are defensive options we wouldn't have, which was always the main issue with Kemp. Although devils advocate could argue he might have been a cheaper alternative to Brantley if in fact he can maintain these numbers, not that I really agree.

De La Cruz in Miami is still rocking a .427 BABIP, so it's hard to make any real judgement on what he's doing. He's hitting the ball hard, but he also has a pretty meh .163 ISO. As is he's looking like at least a decent bench bat, but a team can only carry so many bench bats. He honestly looks like the most dangerous guy we gave up right now in terms of upside. If he starts driving the ball more he could be a really good everyday bat.

All of these guys would help the team, but that's part of the issue when you only carry 10 non catchers on a roster. Somebody has to go even if they might help you. Whether we maximized returns for these guys can be argued, but I still don't think moving any of them was the wrong choice.

Toro and Straw's September OPS's of .566 and .725 are just about what I expected. Not sorry we traded either.

So you expected you would have to cherry pick numbers to support your position?

No, my position is dictated by the numbers.

At some point he shouldn't be taking up a roster spot in AA/AAA over a guy that has a real shot to make the majors. Get your release and take it to the independent leagues, Japan, or Mexico.

I am not at all bitter with Appel, he gave it a good try; I’ve heard rumors he was a hard head and was hard to coach.

But good thing was the Astros cut their loses with Appel, while they could still get a bag of peanuts for him.

If some team wants to give Appel a shot, good for them! No hard feelings, who knows if he will catch on. But he most definitely doesn’t have that cockiness on his shoulders anymore; humility lets your true light shine.

    Clearly.

Edibles and scotch after a long day working in the heat is not always a good idea.
