Question is, would you still hit? I'd take the female on the right, you can have AOC.

Seems like it falls neatly into a charity event exception. Fine to file a complaint and do an investigation if they want, but it doesn't look like an ethics violation to me.

The reasoning for the complaint is that the charity event used s private business to create the guest list.

There means a charity event that uses a private catering group for food would result in an ethics violation also.

It's an ethics complaint meant to generate headlines so people like @Os Trigonum can spam it and cause outrage for the right. It ain't going anywhere.

Sure, but failed ethics complaints are good for the system. You don't want an environment in which ethics complaints are stifled because legitimate complaints might thereby get suppressed. That means you need to put up with some level of meritless complaints. Just have an efficient process to receive them, evaluate them, and accept or reject them. So I'm fine with the grandstanding. I think it's good that partisan watchdogs can get some clicks by filing complaints. That'll keep the complaint pipeline fed and the complaint process oiled and running for when real complaints come along.

I understand that all complaints should be investigated. But my point is that this complaint was made in bad faith. Sure, for the sake of trusting the system, investigate it and show it has no merit.

And I exactly know what it means. Of course this ethics complaint by a self labeled conservative group is doing it in bad faith and knows it won't go anywhere.

Yes the ones where they file a ehtics complaint because a public charity event hired private businesses for things like catering or managing guest lists. Which is essentially any public charity which would entirely every single charity event politician went to with free tickets is a ethics violation which would imply that this conservative group would logically the file complaints to the GOP politicians who attended the event.

Aww. I believe an ignore feature exists for a reason unless you are a masochist and like enduring unbearableness....

Yes a lot of political arguments online are made in bad faith. Who would have thought?

your habit is like a bad verbal tic, except in this case the routine accusation of "bad faith!! bad faith!!" functions as a crude and not particularly effective (not to mention monotonous) ad hominem

I don't know about ethics, but the optics for her attending is terrible. My opinion of her is lowered.

Oh wow. Are you actually expressing your opinion here instead of hiding behind an article. Thanks for telling me how you really feel.

Noted next time I'll diversify and say "insincere".

I mean it's a charity event. It's rather routine. It doesn't swing my opinion of her either way. There were many other politicians there.

She's a young naive idealist which is better than 99% of the rest of our legislative branch.
