I still can't believe they keep throwing him fastballs but I'm sure glad they do.

I think with this compressed season, our guys have a lot of mental fatigue. Playing a game almost every day make it really difficult be sharp every game.

I complained prior to the game as well... but then made the prediction that the 6-9 hitters would be responsible for 6 runs.

They ended up being responsible for 5.

There are players who will benefit from opposing teams just not having enough familiarity or scouting reports on tendencies. In the long run, stars make adjustments to the adjustments made to them and continue to flourish... but in the short term, guys like Meyers, Siri, and Chas can take advantage of the unfamiliarity.

I’d switch tucker and Bregman. Give tucker more AB’s during his consistent torrid streak.

Bregman is a proven commodity who can bat anywhere. Tucker just barely scratching the surface and could very well be a 3 or 4 hitter for the remainder of his career (especially as he still is filling out).

him going the opposite way last night for that double was vintage Berkman-esque.

At least he bats 5th instead of 6th.

Anybody know off hand what are Alvarez’ career numbers when he faces an 0-2 count in an AB?

seems like he’s an automatic K at that point but would love to be enlightened that he’s not.

    BA of .167, 14 hits, 54 K in 84 PA's with an 0-2 count. 2017 was the most recent stat I could quickly find, the MLB average in 0-2 counts was .152 (1-2: .159, 2-2 .181, 3-2 .216)

For comparison, Michael Brantley, Professional Hitter, is a career .188 hitter in 0-2 counts with 123 Ks in 361 PAs.

Hitting with 2 strikes is very, very hard.

Alvarez goes down looking entirely too much.
