or maybe the Fertitas read CF? I was thinking about that actually. This smells like a business/marketing decision. Green/KPJ backcourt looks like already has a lot of fan support, could translate to $$$…
Basketball-wise there is no question that the team will be worse if Wall sits. Green/KPJ are clearly very talented, but are too young, this will be a disastrous backcourt.

That was AFTER he was President. In the context of not showing up it's not applicable...

John Wall and a second for Tobias Harris works.

The second is to convince Morey to take on a slightly larger contract.

i like this trade idea, good for both sides as long as no picks are attached. otherwise, just let john run the practice squad and hold onto to him.

This is the awesome part of this Wall saga -

Wall - He can just sit out and get paid $90 million to do what we normally do on a day-to-day basis.....eating Cheetos, drink Coke, and watch sports in our undies. The crappy part for him - he gets 2 years older, won't have played much in 2 years, and teams are going to shy away from him when he finally hits the open market.

Rockets - Yes, we got stuck with his $90+ million dollar contract. Yes, it sounds like he is not going to be going anywhere because no one will touch that damn contract. But the team is sitting good for the future. They are in the same position as the Texans.....let this guy rot on the bench, make his $, and we'll be good going into the 2023-2024 season.

I'm good with him sitting at the end of the bench in his Armani suits and talking with the trainers. **** Wall.

If we kept Russ the chance of having Jalen Green wouldve been slim to none.

Who indeed but you have to admit that things in the NBA seem impossible until they happen.

Only three easy things I need from a Wall trade:
    1.) No assets going out
2.) No money coming back that exceeds the duration of Walls current deal
3.) No players that actually help this team win in the short term.

Tilman finally got it. He just convinced himself that Wall's salary is paying to Wood, Green, Porter, and Sengun. Wall just found a way to steal the money from the kids.

@BimaThug are there any loopholes in the CBA that could be used to turn some of the guaranteed money in Wall's 2021-2022 cap hit to unlikely performance bonuses/incentives? IIRC, anything marked as unlikely would not count against the cap.

Say the contract gets restructured to where instead of counting for $44 in guaranteed money, the contract drops that figure down to $34 million guarantee with $10 million as a performance bonus/incentive if Wall plays 75% of the games in the regular season. I'd think with this recent injury history that mark would be deemed as "unlikely", however, it's not impossible if the team he goes to monitors his minutes.

Trading a $34 million cap hit is easier than a $44 million cap hit.

    No

It’s against the CBA to renegotiate base-salary of a contract downwards...to prevent exactly what you’re suggesting.

However, you can renegotiate the % guaranteed portion of base compensation; afterall, every buyout does this.

Another thing that I am sure is also against the CBA but shouldn’t be is trading dead money. It makes no sense not to be allowed. Why can’t we trade Wall to Detroit for Blake Griffin’s liability and a pick? Everyone wins. Detroit gets a player, Wall gets to start and play, Tillman takes on dead money, but less than Wall’s contract, the League doesn’t add gross payroll. That should be allowed!
