I like Christopher’s game - could be a steal if he develops to his full potential. I like the Wade comp - makes a lot of sense…also reminds me of the knucklehead version of Mario Chalmers. That being said - I think the odds are he is a bench journeyman at best. Wade had much more polish entering the league - was a leader and created buckets for others. You can’t say the same about Christopher although they share the same shaky college shooting. All that amounts to a guy who has to learn to make his teammates better to be impactful and his skill set on offense so far is very self serving. Defensively he can be an elite guy but in order for him to “stick” somewhere he is going to have to be a defensive leader AND a one man wrecking crew. Ultimately I think he has a huge range of potential outcomes - if he keeps playing head down and not passing the ball, he will be out of the league in 4 years. If he embraces being a defensive leader and/or develops a consistent deep shot, he will be a 3 and d guy for many years…and if he happens to embrace making his teammates better offensively and becomes a slightly better shooter, he may even be a future starter. …I’m betting on the “not on the team in 3 years/ bundled in a trade” option. He’s probably good enough to be a trade sweetener but not good enough to be part of our core.
I wish we still had Melton. Melton would have helped us in '19 when we needed more defense at the guard/wing position. That dude can defend. I knew that from the start.
Please promise me you will never write a review for me, @glimmertwins . It would be my dying wish if I were dying.
Rockets traded Melton to the Suns who then traded him to the Grizz that same season; which says a bunch. I'm saying, Christopher will not exactly turn into the mistake the Nuggets made trading Donovan Mitchell to the Jazz. As high as people are on Josh and his defense in summer league, I also watched Josh Christopher give up some easy drives in the paint down the middle of the lane. The pros are going to eat him up if he does that matador defense at the NBA level. Will he ever develop a 3-point shot?....if not then he is just DeRozan max ceiling; which is good but clashes with the game/space of Porter/Green.
I don’t think so I think he will get in the rotation some where down the line you gotta be crazy if you think this team is gonna kept Wall and Gordon all year
I don't think we will I just don't think this guy can shoot - and guys that can't shoot the ball don't play. DD
I need more info to really evaluate him. Let him play and see how he develops over the season. But learning to be pass first, keeping that defense, and developing his shot even if he becomes solid in midrange would help. Develop a floater and get and 1s with contact, dominate transition and passing. Many ways to be effective.
