Kayvon Thibodeaux would fit nicely into our #1 DE pick tradition and could possibly be better than Mario or Clowney. This crop of QBs are not worth a #1 pick IMO. I take Kayvon #1 and never look back if we "earn" the overall pick. Give Mills 1-2 years to figure it out and if he's not it then you should settle in nicely for the 2022 crop of QBs which by my estimation is better than what this year will offer.
While it is preferable to have a clear #1 entering the draft year like a Lawrence or a Luck, those are the exception to the rule most draft years. I will take my chances tanking. If no one emerges out of the 3-4 QB's in consideration for the top pick, then the Texans can go defense or they can trade down in the draft and get other assets. Over the last 20 years, 16 of the 20 first overall picks have been quarterbacks.......
Right, but there's no need to think that this team is tanking. It just isn't any good on paper, and that's ok - we will lose plenty of games organically. On that note the team could also win a few games just by sheer statistical anomalies and "luck" but that wouldn't make them a competent team either.
I don't disagree with your thought. Of course the QB is the most valuable player on the field there is no new thinking in making that claim, but what you don't do is draft for QB need at #1 overall in football if there is not a clear divide from the QB to the next best player. Which one of the diminutive QBs available this year are you pinning your hopes to?
I didn't say the Texans should take a QB at #1 just to do so.... I said that the Texans could trade the #1 pick and get additional picks if they are so inclined, because there is a high chance that there will be teams that want to take a QB at #1 as history has shown that a QB goes #1 80% of the time over the last 20 years. Who do I want the Texans to take? I don't know, we have played one week of games. It is possible, if not likely that someone like Carson Strong or Spencer Rattler, or possibly even someone like Willis or even Corral. The reality in the NFL is that a lot of deference is given to the QB spot.
I didn’t say they were going to be good. I had them winning 3-4 games this season, but I thought they would at least be competitive. Now that roby is gone, they’re obviously going to tank. Tunsil and cooks are probably next.
Im sorry, but Bradley Roby is not moving the needle for most teams and his departure shouldn't be a notice of impending tank. I'd be ecstatic if they could trade Tunsil, but for what? They wont get anything near the haul they gave up to get him. He's a nice player, but his run blocking stinks and he's far from the guy whom I wanted to nab in Trent Williams at the time.
Yep. For 15 years all we needed was a QB, and for the last 3 all we had was a QB, and during years when this team would be in line to draft a generational QB - none were available. Talk about being a snakebit franchise. I dont see anyone from the 2021 group of QBs that I would label a franchise changer.
"Best interest of the team, Tania" Forgot about that slogan. They all run together. Your cousin from baahston.
LOL Who is John C Prepper and why do we care? Yeah, we think it’s a burner but we also thought “Will J (@4Jacko69)” was Bob O’Brien’s burner and I think that got debunked?
