Is there a better way to do this? I love bacon, I really don't wanna give it up. I love red meat, it's delicious. Can't we just euthanized them instead of the pain and torture that these poor animals go through on a daily? Talk to me CF, break it down for me.

Of course, I've mentioned it before and I'm happy to talk about it again.

    Uh, hell yeah it is.

Now here is where I believe you have some misunderstandings.

Not sure how to start yet, but like I've said before it's easy to cut down your animal protein intake, replace with veggies and grains, and just consume better products.

Figure out (guesstimate) how much you spend on "meat" (beef/pork/chicken/seafood) per month, that's step one.

I watched a documentary on it called Dominion...not for the faint of heart. I gave up meat for a week but that's the best I could do. I do eat considerably less meat than before with more rice, pasta, bread, and of course more vegetables.

I'll also add that the whole "pain and torture" stuff is not an industry-wide standard.

Pick better proteins from responsible producers: you'll spend the same money but get better product and eat a bit less.

The issue as always is cost
I don't know if it is real or not but If you ask the industry . . .
they will tell oyu doing it painlessly and with less torture will
    raise the cost considerable

Your 20$ steak would not be a 50$ steak . .etc

Most times just follow the profit motive

There is some truth to it though.

Factory farming is inherently more "cruel", but it drives up supply and drives price down. If all meat came from smaller operations that had better conditions for the animals and put a greater emphasis on animal well being, it would necessarily drive down supply and drive cost up.

That said, if you have the means to pay that cost, and the moral implications of factory farming bother you, then IMO you should go that route.

I eat an almost exclusively carnivore diet these days and I don't like the idea of factory farming, but I view it as a necessary evil. It provides cheap decent quality protein sources for tens of millions in the US and many more elsewhere who wouldn't otherwise be able to afford it other than as a rare luxury. I can afford better, so I usually do, but I won't judge those who realistically can't.

I think everyone who eats meat needs to see to what is required to get meat. It's one of the reasons I hunt. It keeps me grounded to reality.

In 1952, 50 cents of every dollar spent on food went back to the farmer/producer
In 2021, 16 cents of every dollar spent on food goes back to the farmer/producer

Real question: do your figures include subsides for both time periods?

I'm sure dogs taste ok, but people may think I'm weird if I ate one.

If only @jacoby wasn't so busy with his only fans page, he would be able to guide you through this time.

I don't know why he would still be so busy either, since they banned the pronz.

Should we worry about the pain and torture of a zebra when it gets eaten alive by a lion?
