Then it might be a Keuchel type situation for Verlander where he doesn't get signed. Who's going to give up a draft pick to sign an older pitcher after TJ? Verlander might not be ready to start the season anyway so he might be ok with waiting out the QO deadline like Keuchel was forced to do.
People would be complaining about JV causing a distraction if he was around. Reddick stopping in for 1 game is the right amount.
We can see Trout in the dugout with his teammates...we don't see Verlander. His social media posts make it seem that he's on a paid summer vacation.
Difference between all those other guys and JV is that those other guys already lived in the city they played in year-round. JV did not spend much time in Houston other than during the season. It wasn’t going to be his year-round home even when he was more than willing to sign the extension. While it would be nice in a rah-rah type effect, there is no major benefit to having him here.
He's injured in a way that prevents pitching. He didn't join a monastery. He would be doing something very wrong if he wasn't living life.
A 'bit shocked that Myers is being sat again. Sat 2 of 3 in San Diego, and while I get that it was to get Brantley/Yordan starts, you sit him again after the day he had yesterday? Ah well, just curious that's all.
