Slowly Cody Bellinger is losing his starting spot and losing his job, almost out of the League. Other teams might stay away from him.

Cody could become a journeyman and bounce around teams.
Choice is his, get Rehab, get cleaned. Be serious about hitting.
Quit mar1juana and other drugs. He is Embarrassing himself.

I hate the Dodgers as much as the next Astros fan, but I typically don’t take pleasure in any player struggling to the extent Belly is. When he’s good, it’s great for the game. I don’t really wish ill on anyone. And the digs on this board about his MJ use, and that they are somehow connected to his recent demise, are out of touch and probably not even relevant. It’s not like he’s getting high before games all of the sudden and that’s why he’s struggling. He’s probably struggling because, you know, this game is hard as hell as is.

How is it great for the game of baseball if Cody Bellinger is playing well? Is this season actually lacking because Bellinger is hitting poorly?

The game has been missing a generational talent in Mike Trout most of this season and it's working just fine.

I never said the game or league is lacking because Belly is struggling, or even that it is worse because of his struggles. I just think that the game, and the league, as a whole, is generally more exciting whenever it is flush with players who really excel. Outside of regressions tied to aging, or unfortunate events like injuries, I think the game is better off the more elite players it has? And Belly surely fit that bill in 2019 and prior. Not sure how that’s such a bizarre notion.

edit: stated otherwise, in my opinion, the more great players MLB has, the better it’s product will be. When elite players regress and it’s not tied to age regression or apparent injuries, I think that is not ideal for the game.

Cody Bellinger is very comparable to Adam Dunn and Joey Gallo.

.200 batting Average 200 Strikeouts 30-40 Home Runs 80 RBI

Probably would have been better to originally say that the more great players (playing up to their ability) that baseball has, the better it is for the game instead of focusing on Bellinger writing that when he's good, it's good for the game.

This is an extremely biased opinion, but I think the league is better when the Astros players are much better than anybody else and they just ram the league for all eternity, like an amplified version of what the Yankees have been.

Bellinger sucking helps the Astros achieve this, so I'm glad he is sucking - especially after all the smack he talked regarding the trash cans and Altuve.

Also, ganja does different things to different people. I've seen stoners perform open heart surgery impeccably, as well as dudes turn into recluses, lose their ambitions and turn 180s because they liked to toke up a little too much. Bellinger's struggles could absolutely be linked to discovering the herbal magic and negatively affecting his performance as a professional baseball player. Not saying it is, but it cannot be brushed aside.

Hell, I'd take Dunn or Gallo on the Astros anytime now.

    I'm thinking like this.

Except since he talked crap about the Stros when the Dodgers were doing the same thing, I'm rooting for this guy to fail.

    On stoners ...
To me, weed is not a hard drug that 'changes' people ...

Thus, you don't see people ruin their lives, homeless on the street, selling their bodies for their next toke, needing rehab to get their life back from weed addiction like you do with hard drugs

For self-starters with a naturally strong drive, it's nothing more than a way to decompress after work or relax on the weekend and essentially has no effect on their professional, social or family life

For those already prone to laziness, procrastination, and isolation, it can definitely exaggerate those traits to the point of becoming a real problem that can negatively impact daily life

For the vast majority, smoking weed is no big deal, even if it's a (nearly) daily habit
For the second group, it's probably best to give it up if you want to get the most out of life ...

I'd guess Cody to be among the second group, and he should kick the habit before next spring unless he loves weed more than the millions he may lose by sacrificing a long MLB career just to get high

I doubt he has any other talents that could set him up for life by playing another few seasons as even a regular starter, let alone his previous superstar form

He could retire at 30 with enough in the bank to smoke all day, every day the rest of his life without any worries
Always blows my mind when guys like Randy Gregory and Josh Gordon cannot grasp this concept

    They should DFA him

Doesn't realize how bad it had gotten. It's a Chris Davis crash, but in what should be just entering his prime.

Players do have terrible years sometimes and they just become blips on otherwise great careers, but this is beyond that for a guy getting this many PAs.
