    There's always a money incentive to peddle doubt. Already happened with hydrochloroquine and regeneron money getting tangled up with Trump.

    I'm not saying ivermectin folks are behind the current spread but someone with a lot of ivermectin to sell is getting rich

    If Ivermectin is a horse dewormer

    Then sugar cubes are horse food

    Both can be true but not their only purpose

    BTW- not that you care, but Ivermectin was first created for human, the animal version came later.

    Nice.

    In general, "Big Pharma" makes less money with vaccines than they do treating the disease.

    You know what's a bigger industry than vaccines?
    Holistic Medicine

    So when people say "Follow the money" that's what I tell them.

    Yearly average:
    vaccine industry - $19 Billion
    Holistic Medicine - $34 Billion (almost double the amount)

    It's hard to get rich on a drug that costs very little for 1kg. From that 1kg, you can make virtually hundred of dosages. How do you think Ivermectin was prescribed to 1/3 of the world population if it was expensive?

    One thing for sure is the supply and demand part. There is an active campaign in this country to suppress Ivermectin to make it super hard to get, therefore driving the demand and along with it the price.

    This is directly from the Merck statement:

    It is important to note that, to-date, our analysis has identified:

    • No scientific basis for a potential therapeutic effect against COVID-19 from pre-clinical studies;
    • No meaningful evidence for clinical activity or clinical efficacy in patients with COVID-19 disease, and;
    • A concerning lack of safety data in the majority of studies.
    We do not believe that the data available support the safety and efficacy of ivermectin beyond the doses and populations indicated in the regulatory agency-approved prescribing information.

    Then it goes on to explain that the approved prescribed use of Ivermectin is used for parasites.

    I wasn't accusing the manufacturers, but fair enough. I can't claim "something is afoot" without more direct proof, though the growing list of off label use for this Nobel Winning miracle drug is more than a bit off on the bullshit meter.

    I guess what's influencing me on this is that a) the original antivaxxer wanted to promote an alternative medication by discrediting the vaccine in question b) it's incredibly easy to pay influencers to peddle these claims by linking to "temporarily hosted" journal publications.

    And while I think Ivermectin could have some effects, I'm skeptical to what degree.

    The proposed plan for the app is to be used for those who are in quarantine due to being a new international arrival.

    Do you believe quarantining people who traveled internationally should not be allowed? Or is the app aspect that you disagree with? How about having a government official come check if you're home at random times during the quarantine period?
